Hello,

On Ebay, I can see a socket AM4  processor being sold as HP part L19391-001. 

I am thinking of buying this to build a desktop PC

The picture of the item show s  AMD A12-9700E printed on the case.

Are the two things the same, or are there subtle differences, such that this HP replacement CPU wont run in a non-HP motherboard?

I am not aware that HP manufactures it own processors so most likely that is just the HP Part Number for AMD OEM Processor.

One way to check is make sure it has the same AMD Part number on the CPU cover as the one shown in CPU World:
