How to test my ryzen 7 1700 for errors/faults?

EDIT: hi,  it was processor fault, 1 week after replacing CPU everything work fine, thanks everyone for help.

Hi,

How I can testy my ryzen cpu for errors or faults?

I am getting memory errors and fpn list corrupt BSODS. I get them while trying to start windows but It can also happen after  windwos will start

I have motherboard returned from warranty as fixed, I have updated bios. I have tried using different ram sticks and SSD/HDD disks so it is presumably memory controller in CPU. Is there way to test or fix it on my side or should I raise warranty ticket?

Prime95

I have tried prime95,

test 1: memory managament error BSOD after like 20 minutes, all CPS were running at 100%
test 2: after around 20 minutes prime95 crashed

test 3: after around 20 minutes prime95 crashed

test 4: after around around 1 hour CPU 1 and 2 stopped working at 100 % and worker 4 process in prime95 also stopped working and created this log, other cpus are still running at 100%

To eliminate bad RAM Memory modules, download the latest MEMTEST86 and run it. After two passes it should show ZERO errors. If it shows at least one, you may have a bad or failing RAM Memory module.

Need to state the MAKE & MODEL of your Motherboard.

Do you have the latest BIOS installed?  Do you have the minimum BIOS installed that is compatible with your Ryzen 7 CPU?

Latest AMD CHIPSET installed?

Is your RAM Memory Modules part number listed under the Motherboard's QVL Compatible Memory list for the Ryzen 7 1700 CPU?

If your RAM Memory Modules are not listed in the QVL that can be causing the problem since it is not compatible with the Ryzen 7 CPU.

Need to post your computer specs as per AMD Forum rule : INFORMATION REQUIRED WHEN POSTING A QUESTION .

What GPU card (Make & Model) do you have installed and MAKE & MODEL of PSU installed.

Bad Memory, Weak or failing PSU, Incompatible hardware all can cause BSODs.

Hi,

added spec in original post.

ram memory is on the QVL list, I have tested pc using different ram and i had the same issue, brother tested ram on his pc without issue. I have run windows buildin ramtest and it showed no issues. I will check memtest86.

I have the 2nd  latest bios version.

-Weak or failing PSU

How to test this? In Bios I can see settings for some fans and voltage and nothing any alerts.

When I tried booting windows from SSD it had no problem but would give BSOD after like 5 minutes, on HDD it have BSODS while starting window but I just run Prime95 for 6 hours without PC crash.

Download OCCT. It is a free diagnostic software that test your CPU/ GPU./ and PSU. Be aware with the PSU Test. It will put maximum load on the PSU. If you have a weak or cheap PSU it may damage it. So when you run the test keep a close eye on the readouts from the PSU while testing it. I have run it on my own Corsair 850 Gold Plus without any problems. If you run it and the computer restarts by itself or shuts down it may indicate a bad or weak PSU. OCCT basically runs both CPU & GPU tests at the same time to put maximum load on the PSU.

MEMTEST86 is a free Memory tester and much more thorough than Windows built in tester. Most, if not all Forum Users recommend this software for testing Memory Modules.

You might want to update the BIOS since it improve compatibility with M.2 Devices (SSD are connected to this type of motherboard connection). Might be a BIOS Memory configuration problem. I won't be able to advice you there because I am not very knowledgeable about configuring Memory speeds and voltages with BIOS.

Is your Corsair RAM Modules part number CMK16GX4M2B3200C16R ver4.31 or CMK8GX4M1D3200C16 ?

The first P/N is the only one compatible with the Ryzen 7 1700 CPU.

What does the Stress.txt say about the hardware Failure in Prime95?

This link about the Prime95 Fatal Hardware error may be useful. It is about a 2 years old but still valid. They give to troubleshooting tips on how to locate the hardware failure. Problem with my prime95 result - mersenneforum.org.

Also from AIDA64 (similar to Prime95) about Hardware Failure. Sounds a lot like your problem: Hardware failure (MSI B350 Tomahawk + Ryzen 5 1600) - Benchmarking, system performance - AIDA64 Disc...

Thanks for help. I have tried to run OCCT and on CPU it gave error at 15 second. Started it more times to check if till reappear but it did not.

I will try to run longer test in OCCT and memory86 tomorrow.

I have ram without "R" at the end, - CMK16GX4M2B3200C16

My ram is listed here: https://www.amd.com/system/files/2017-06/am4-motherboard-memory-support-list-en_0.pdf
But on MSI site there is only model with "R" and "W" at the end: Wsparcie dla X370 KRAIT GAMING | Motherboard - The world leader in motherboard design | MSI Polska

Could MEMTEST86 or windows tool not detect issues with ram  but due to incompatibility it would be causing issue anyway?

Could the ram incompatibility issue appear after 10 months? Would changing ram to "R" model fix this issue if it is RAM causing it or using incorrect ram for 10 months harm CPU or motherboard?

OCCT has two CPU Tests. Run both. If both come back with errors again. Open a AMD Warranty Form and have it RMA back to see if the CPU/APU is bad.

MEMTEST86 doesn't check if the Memory is compatible or not. It just physically checks the RAM Chips installed to make sure that what goes in as Input comes out exactly as Output. The Memory could be incompatible but still check fine with MEMTEST86.

Did you have a different CPU with the same RAM memory installed 10 months ago, before you purchased the Ryzen 5 1700?  Possible with the old CPU it was compatible but then if you replaced it recently with a the New Ryzen 5 may be a different story.

I would run both OCCT and PRIME95 and if any errors pop up concerning the CPU, I would open a Ticket with AMD Support via email here : Email Form and send them the results from both OCCT and PRIME95 and see what they say.

Could still be a BIOS Misconfiguration with the Memory or CPU.

Open a ticket with MSI and ask them about the RAM MEMORY you have installed and whether there is a major difference if the Module number doesn't end with a "R" or "W". Also about the BSOD's you are having.
