I just got a new PC a few months ago, I was using a FX-6300 but upgraded to a FX-8350 recently.

I was wondering why the performance was the same, with almost no difference compared to the FX-6300.

So I decided to check the performance on Task manager and CPU-Z.

On CPU-Z it says that I'm using 6 cores, and on task manager 3 cores.

My motherboard is a GA-970A-DS3P, and it says it's compatible with FX-8350 with the release BIOS version.

Is this normal? Or maybe windows couldn't recognize the new processor?

Specs:

Motherboard: GA-970A-DS3P

GPU: AMD Radeon R9 380X 4GB

Ram: 2x Kingston HyperX FURY 4GB 1866Mhz DDR3

CPU: FX-8350

Power: Corsair CX-600W

OS: Windows 10 64-bits

Peripherals:

CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Blizzard T2

1.Win+r>msconfig>Boot>advanced>Numbers of processors>You don`t need to choose number of processors -just uncheck and reboot
2.Reset to defaults or uninstall any software like AMD Overdrive

3.Reset (or better update) Bios

1. The max setting possible is 6 cores;

2. Settings restored to default;

3. I was thinking about doing that, maybe because I was using a FX-6300 it didn't recognize the new CPU?. I have to take the battery out and wait for a few minutes, right? I'll do that later today, I'll reply when I do, thanks.

1.Leave that checkbox disabled (uncheck) Or you will be limited to 6 cores in any case.

Before reseting the bios I decided to format my HD and do a clean windows install to see if it works.

And that did the trick! Windows was probably recognizing my previous settings, when I was using a FX-6300, it's working as intended now.

did u actualy get more performance with 8350 than with the 6300 and if did how mutch ? in terms of gaming.

In most games, a 5~10 FPS boost

But in games that have high processor usage, like WoW, it changed a lot.

With my previous setup, using Low-Med settings, I used to get 40 FPS in most maps, 30~35 FPS on the major cities, now I get 60 FPS almost everywhere with the settings on High-Ultra.
