I bought 2 new laptops.  One is an Acer gaming laptop (the Nitro 5) and the other is a budget Lenovo system also with a 2500u.  Both machines ran ok for a few weeks, then suddenly started throttling at .38 ghz on Battery power.

No amount of changing power plans or settings can get them out of .38 ghz.  Only plugging them in solves the problem.

dan_ritchie, there is a huge thread on this very subject here.  Please find and read it.  The problem is the BIOS code and at least some of the LT vendors are releasing new code to correct it.  Good luck and enjoy, John.
