CPPC and HVCI Incompatibility intended ?

I have a Threadripper 3970x machine running Windows 10, and I'm trying to enable the HVCI (core isolation) feature in the windows security settings. once turned on, the system systematically crashes at boot. I'm capable of turning on the feature if I disable CPPC in the BIOS though.

If I enable CPPC and Windows 10 HVCI simultaneously, the computer BSODs with the bug check code SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED with faulting process amdppm.sys, which is the chipset driver. however, disabling CPPC altogether in the BIOS prevents this bluescreen, at the expense of optimal core rotation.

Is this intended behavior ? on intel systems, core rotation options don't seem to cause such and issue.

Have you found anything regarding this? I have core isolation off but if I enable SVM its the same BSOD on boot

It so happens that this Sysnative thread from 2020 deals with the same exact problems you guys are having: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/threads/device-guard-vbs-bsod-system_thread_exception_not_handled_m...

Sysnative is a technical site that specializes in Windows BSODs and run by MS Windows (I believe former) experts.

The above link is also mentioned at Reddit AMD/R thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/hm23sd/does_anyone_else_get_a_blue_screen_at_boot_when/?ref_so...

So you both might want to open a thread there and see if there is an update to your problem plus open a AMD Service Request (Official AMD SUPPORT) and ask them what their opinion is from here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/contact-email-form
