Hello EPYC team,

I want to build a home lab setup for running virtual machines (Linux KVM virtualisation).

CPU load on the VMs will be very minimal, and will idle most of the time.

I am looking for more density of VMs.

OS will be Fedora Linux or Ubuntu Linux.

I am thinking to have an 8 core DUAL EPYC processor, with 194GIB RAM.

However I could not figure out the motherboard and the power supply to use.

Can some one collaborate and help me to identify right processor and the components needed to build the lab environment?

Regards.

By your description it sounds like you want to build a Server type PC to run your VMs.

Try opening a thread at AMD SERVER GURUS that deals with EPYC processors and their hardware: https://community.amd.com/t5/server-gurus/ct-p/amd-server-gurus

As to the PSU depends on your GPU card or cards you will be using which besides the processors are the most hog of wattage.
