AMD Ryzen R7 1700 + GTX1080 Bottleneck?

hi everyone,

i bought this system a month ago and im struggling to understand why im getting low fps in several games like bf1.

i checked my cpu/gpu temps(witch are fine btw ) and all my drivers are up to date. then i installed MSI afterburner, and i saw that the game uses a 100% of my second core.

i dont understand why this is happening because i shouldn't  have bottleneck with this cpu.( bf1 uses a 100% of the second core so my gpu works onky on about 50% power). i also checked the  settings, the win 10 is on high performance mode and the gpu is on high performance mode.

can some please help me to understand why?

What FPS are you seeing? What resolution?

What's  your FPS, as BF1 uses 4 cores effectively.

The GTX 1080 should be able to play any game fine and hold 60 frames per second

The most common bottleneck in not enough main memory

I have seen several games lately that want that much RAM now.

Kinda makes the case for 32GB to be sure that demanding games are readily provided for

Re: AMD Ryzen R7 1700 + GTX1080 Bottleneck?

16GB is plenty fine for any game, unless you do something silly like run Skyrim with a massive amount of user mods, and even then it's going to load your VRAM more than system RAM. Even games like Batman: Arkham Knight and F1: 2015 with 65 Chrome tabs open in the background pulled under 10GB of RAM, and even when system RAM was only 4GB the FPS difference was negligible to nonexistant. This was Techspot's conclusion:

Of the now 20 plus games we actively benchmark with, the only other game to exceed 6GB of memory usage was F1 2015 and all three memory configurations delivered the exact same 109fps.
