5950x running way too hot!

My current build:

  • CPU: Ryzen 9 5950x
  • Motherboard: Asus Strix X570-E
  • Ram: 32GB 3600 Mhz
  • Video: RTX 3090

At stock motherboard settings I'm already reaching 85c in the package during high load gaming like Cyberpunk, and actual CPU temp around 75c. That's too hot! I replaced the 5950x with my former 3950x and I wasn't getting anywhere near that on that chipset. I'm scared to play at those temperatures. I dunno what to do. I have a Noctua D-15 with good internal airflow, fans and mounting. I tried updating the AMD drivers and motherboard drivers, it's still hot and this is at base. What do I do? Is this normal?

The thermal maximum for the 5950X, as reported by Ryzen Master, is 90*C, so if it's reading 75*C in RM then you're fine, and not dangerous with 85*C, but I would suggest you upgrade your cooler to something much more capable of handling 16 cores.
