3800X Core Temp is ~10C higher than 3900X under load

Software used:
Core Temp Version 1.17.1
AIDA64 Version 6.33.5700

Hardware used:
ASRock Taichi X470 3900X EVGA CLC 280
ASRock Taichi X570 3800X EVGA CLC 280

3900X Under 100% Load (AIDA64 Stress Test)
Core Temp and AIDA64 show ~66C

3800X under 100% Load (AIDA64 Stress Test)
Core Temp and AIDA64 show ~80C

The same is true when running Handbrake.  The 3800X cores are run a little faster and ~10C hotter than the 3900X.  Is this to be expected?

Feedback appreciated.

Have you checked/compared the 'power reporting deviation' for the 2 mobos, may be that (or not).

Ryzen 5 5600x, B550 aorus pro ac, Hyper 212 black, 2 x 16gb F4-3600c16dgtzn kit, Aorus gen4 7000s 2tb, Nitro+RX6900XT, RM850, Win.10 Pro..

goodplay,

Don't know what you mean?  How do I check?

Anyway,

I also have a 2700X system with a ROG Crosshair VII X470 motherboard and an EVGA CLC 280 cooler.  It too runs AIDA64 hotter (~76C) than the 3900X system.  The 3900X is based on two chiplets whereas the 2700X and 3800X have just one.  Could it be that the heat generated by the 3900X CPU is better handled by the EVGA Cooler because it its spread over a larger area?

You need hwinfo64 to check it, there is also a thread in their general discussions forum with info on it.

Re: 3800X Core Temp is ~10C higher than 3900X under load

Using HWINFO64 V7.06-4500

Only ran AIDA64 for a few minutes but that pretty much agreed with the Max Temp when running Handbrake for 30-40 minutes.

ROG Crosshair VII  X470 MB 2700X, Power Reporting Deviation 93.8-94.8%, Max Temp running AIDA64 ~76C

ASRock Taichi X570 MB 3800X, Power Reporting Deviation 85.8-87.1%, Max Temp running AIDA64 ~80C

ASRock Taichi X470 MB 3900X, Power Reporting Deviation 70.5-71.3%, Max Temp running AIDA64 ~66C

So much for that!  Based on what I read about the Power Reporting Deviation the 3900X should be running hot as hell?!  I can understand why the 3800X runs a little hotter than the 2700X since it is running all the cores at ~4250 vs the 2700X @ ~3850.
