hi, having the same problem myself, with the same processor. it started a few days ago. the only recent change I made was updating the mobo BIOS....but I did that nearly three weeks ago. I guess it could be a bug in the BIOS, or something, but weird that I had no problems initially after updating it.

along with reboots at the desktop, WHEA 19 errors in event viewer.

temporary fix (for me):

  • disable XMP profile
  • manually overclock the RAM and adjust timings to find stable settings.

I reduced RAM to 3200mhz (from 3600mhz) and timings accordingly. Voltage 1.36. FCLK 1600mhz.

I think the problem is FCLK clock, some bug in the BIOS or AGESA version. I cannot run FCLK over 1600mhz, at all, or the rebooting and WHEA errors appear.

My configuration was stable at 3600mhz for almost two years before this problem started.

edit - of course since your system is new, there is small chance that the processor is bad from the get-go. But that is a small chance...very small really...of that happening. That, plus, all the other posts here complaining of similar behavior, would be a unlucky coincidence in your case.

Also getting this issue and the only way i can reproduce is leaving the system idle, underload i do not get this problem. I have not come across this on my gigabyte a520i itx motherboard but then again that runs ubuntu.

So far as i got two systems both amd it happens with not only 3700x but also 3900x on asus b550-mplus motherboard.

Its happened on bios version Version 1804 2021/02/09 and lastest version.

Could well be my powersupply 750watt but last i checked it was fine on 3.3v 5v one and 11.980 on the 12v one which is well within 5%.

hi,
i just upgrade my old i7-3770k with Asus P8Z77V-Pro to MSI X570 Tomahawk wifi + Ryzen 7 3700x + Kingston Hyper X 16GB DDR4 3600 x2 ( HX436C17FB3K2/32 ). with other old hardware that i have is :
R9 Fury X
Corsair MP510 960GB
Asus Xonar D2X sound card
Razer Taipan mouse
Ducky keyboard.
after install windows 10 (20H2) , chipset driver (from AMD website), wifi and BT (from intel website) , Radeon latest WHQL 21.3.1 driver. LAN i use windows 10 built-in driver(because i see people having LAN reset problem with Realtek driver.. so i don't install realtek one.)

Every thing seem fine , Game don't have any problem, but when i watching Youtube in Firefox and try to fast skipping the video, the system will restart with no BSOD , event i disable the auto restart when BSOD in system setting.

i check the Event Viewer, every time the system restart, i get WHEA Logger ID 18 with and Critical error Kernel Power Event ID 41

after 5 days of online search try many setting in bios. turn out the PROBLEM is Radeon latest WHQL 21.3.1 driver! so i roll back to the one i use on i7-3770k system "20.11.2 WHQL" now no problem when i fast skipping youtube video in firefox and no more system restart problem.

a graphic driver can cause system restart and WHEA Logger Event ID 18 error . so try other older version of graphic driver.
