Ryzen 7 78003xd, 100% core clock 1% load?

I have a 7800X3D, that is running with 100% core clock all the time, even with only 1% load on a fresh Windows install?

My first cpu was idle at 70c+,tested it in another working computer with a 7900x3d in that didnt have core speed at 100%, it did the same in that.

Returned that cpu, got a new one, it does the same, only difference is it sits at 50c~ at idle

Checked with a few different programs, same result.

What is wrong, why so they sit at 100% core clock with no load?

Impetuz, post a screenshot of Ryzen Master when this is happening. Windows Task Manager does not know how to report the clock for multicore processors. John.

The 7800X3D base frequency is 4.2GHz. Programs such as Task Manager, CPU-Z, HWiNFO, etc. will display the base frequency as the minimum even with no load.

If you want to see what your processor cores are really doing, use Ryzen Master as @misterj suggests.

That, seems impossible. The chip cant run at full clock on all 8 cores, all the time. It cant. Even if you want it to.

Please dont tell me you are looking at "global" limit"..... How many cores are you even monitoring, and from what source?  Ill bet your 7900x3d rig, is doing basically the same, you just have 2 ccd's vs 1.

Where are you seeing this? HWiNFO ? or where?  What "clock" speed did you see on all 8 cores? You most likely returned a perfectly good cpu.  Neither of my 7800x3ds just "chill" at 5050 all core at idle and here and there in game. I only know 8 others running the same chip, and none, since launch day, has anyone seen, or, brought this issue up.

EDIT- hope i can re-buy that cpu you sold back for cheap, as i very much doubt there is a thing wrong with it. Hell where im from, id love to have all 8 cores running at max speed.

Shot as i even wrote this..... with a youtube vid up, steam open, and such. I think you are looking at the wrong info, or your info is bugged mate. What is 100% core clock to you mean?  Also, im curious what "clock" speed your even seeing on all 8 cores.

This chip pulls like 80 ish watts at full rip, all core. You can fart and cool this thing.

Im using CPUZ and NZXT as you can see.

This is the computer being on for a little, just sitting idle in windows, doing nothing, i can see all cores doing the same on my Asus Armory info.
They at allmost max core clock, and rarely weave down a little, as you can see on the timeline, on the NZXT picture.

We tried on the 7900X3D computer, same programs, and it does fall down in core clock, when its idle.
Thats why we tried my returned CPU in that computer, but there it allso just sat at max core clock, thats why i returned it.

My bios is updated and set to default, and the MB is a Asus rog strix b650e-f gaming wifi.

@misterj @FunkZ

You are 100% correct, in Ryzen Master it does show the correct core clock

Thanks alot, that settles my worries.

You know, how come that it does not show in other programs with the 7800, when it does fine with the 7900, im just curious?

One core, vs all 8... is a thing.
