I own a Samsung G9 monitor, model lc49g95tssexxs, and my OS is Win11.
I was using it with a laptop ruinning an nvidia graphic card, and could use the auto scaling function of the monitor to play games in a lower resolution than the native one.
I built a new desktop and bought a 9070xt. So far, so good, except that I can no longer use the auto scaling function of my monitor. Manual scaling (where I input the size of the desired screen) works, but it is a hassle to change it every time.
I tried to activate the GPU scaling in Adrenaline. The center mode works, but it not usable in competitive game. The one I would like to use is the preserve aspect ratio mode, and for some reason, it does not work, e.g. the picture is stretched across the whole screen.
Any idea on how to fix this
I had a look at the specifications and it has both Nvidia adaptive sync and AMD freesync. Is there a firmware update for your monitor? I have to do that with mine from time to time.
Hello and thank you for your reply.
I did updated to the latest fw of the screen, without any change, unfortunately.
It's a few thing you need to do to get scaling to work.
First in Adrenalin software go to Settings - Display.
Then set GPU Scaling to Enabled and Scaling Mode to Full Panel.
Then to the right of Scaling you need to create a Custom Resolution
Click Create New and insert your game's lower resolution in two places: Resolution (Px) and Timing Display.
Then copy the G.Pixel Clock (kHz), then erase it, then paste it in again(its a bug)
Then click Create.
Done.
Hope this helps
Hello @Chanses and thank you for your message.
Thank you @mengelag for pinging me also.
I tried this, using 2560 x 1440 resolution, but received an error message telling me those custome resolution settings are not compatible with my display.
My display is a samasung g9,so the native resolution is 5120 x 1440p, but it can display 2560 x 1440 with black lines on the sides for instance
HI MENGELAG I'M JameelPerkins asking I Wish to see AMD RELIVE on all LINUX by this summer if u guys can make that happend ?
Hello @mengelag and thank you for monitoring this thread.
