RX 7800 XT PC freezing to black screen

Hello poeple of the AMD community, this is my first time ever making an account here and posting

So recently (around almost a month ago) i have bought my very first AMD GPU which is Sapphire RX 7800 XT Pure model, until that i was always on nvidia

And the moment i instaled the new GPU i started to have freezing while gameplay and after that black screen, okay now im gointo to try and explain exactly what is/been happening the past month (english is not my first language) ok? ready, set, go

Heres info about my PC

Computer Type: Desktop

previous GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3060 12gb OC

New and current GPU: Sapphire RX 7800 XT pure 16gb

I have two monitors: main monitor is LG ultragear 32GN500 165Hz connected via DP, and second monitor is Samsung odyssey G3 27" 144Hz connected via HDMI (but 98% of the time i keep my second monitor off)

CPU: intel i5 13400f 10 cores 16 threads

Motherboard: Asus ROG strix Z690-a D5

RAM: 32gb of ram g.Skill trident z5 5600mhz

PSU: seasonic b12 750w 80+ Bronze

Case: BitFenix Tracery aRGB

Operating System & Version: from WINDOWS 10 PRO 19042 to Windows 11 home

GPU Drivers: 25.3.1

Chipset Drivers: AMD Windows Driver Version 32.0.13031.3015

Background Applications: Discord, steam and HWmonitor (to check temps)

Description of Original Problem: Okay, at first this happened on the following games Hogwarts Legacy, Lords of the fallen (2023) and elden ring. What happens when i boot for example Lords of the fallen and going into gameplay is me playing the game for like 10 minutes to an hour long duration (every time its random) game freezes i hear sound suttering and a moment later screen goes black and i force off PC. On another hand when ever i boot Hogwarts legacy and game goes into loading shadders screen, after bar loads to half it closes the game immediately, also i have been having some drivers time out, and one time i got "Out of video memory" pop up after booting hogwarts legacy, but that like happened once

Troubleshooting: Heres what i tried

  • Used DDU multiple times - did not work

  • Disabling XMP - did not work

  • Tried to set right frequencies in adrenalin - did not work

  • Tried to swap back to my previous GPU thinking "maybe i somehow broke the PCI-e or something along the lines" used DDU again before that and see if everything is okay, PCI-e slot works fine and also had no problems with my previous GPU in games so i switched back to AMD gpu - did not work

  • Disabling Windows MPO - did not work

  • Turning off AMD free sync - did not work

  • Monitoring Temps while heavy load because i thought maybe its over heating? nope temps are fine

THE ONLY thing i didnt want and did not do is to reinstal windows because i had my stuff organized and simple did not want to redo everything all over again

So in the end i decided to make a return of the GPU to the store and either get a refund or switch with a different GPU, fast forward 2 weeks later i get a call from the store repair office/service and they tell me that the GPU is completely fine and they return it back to me so now im stuck with it

Now that i got no choice left what i did the past few days is i did back stuff up and reinstalled to windows 11

And things did improve with reintalling windows but it did not fix the problem entirely because what i mean by that, now on lords of the fallen the game with high/max settings graphics settings and further testing it seemes that me playing it for 2 hours i had no crashes, drivers time out but what i noticed is after a few times me using alt + tab to monitor temps for example or something else it did causes my game to freeze and after a minute or two it unfreezes it self and i dont know what to take that for? On the other other hand the freezing and black screen still happens on the game Dark souls 2

And with further research i did try to undervolt the GPU to fix the problem but it did not work

Side note i did turn off hardware acceleration scheduling from the display settings because i read that that also might help, and changing monitor refresh rate but no luck

At this point i dont know what to do

Hi there! Does it still goes into black screen after you started any games because I'm kinda in the same boat as you do for the past week or so.
