Hey everyone!  Today the update came out, new map. and it's impossible to play 1% low 60 fps, stuttring crazy. I've tried reinstalling drivers, rolling back to previous drivers, nothing works.

my setup:

9800x3d

MSI x870e Edge

32 gb 6000 cl 30 ram

Asus Tuf  7900xtx

1200w ps

I really hope we will receive word from either company this weekend. This is so frustrating.

Forget about anything happening on Saturday or Sunday — we’ll just have to wait until Monday to get ignored all over again, while “codupdates” posts a thread saying they fixed some completely irrelevant nonsense.

The only thing that has worked for me as a temporary fix is enabling FSR 3.0 in game. Then you have to cap your FPS to 240fps (or whatever your monitor refresh rate is) seems to play alot more smooth and eliminates the micro stutters. But the game does crash a whole lot more. Just wish activision or AMD would come out with an update or driver fix. Tried every trick in the book and nothing seems to fix it.

Im trying Windows 11 Pro Insider Preview Canary

OS Build 27823.1000

The Verdansk is so smooth no stuttering or lags but i got high temps on cpu and crash for that reason i tried to tweak on bios for lower temps but nothing worked.

EH? What cpu? It anyways cannot have high temp, it should use half threads at most!

Ryzen 9 7900X

The Windows 11 canary version is very unstable and thats why i got high temps I've tried everything on bios nothing worked...now im downloading the beta version of Windows 11 to see if the Verdansk is smooth and the Windows is stable.

Also im NOT suggesting you to install Windows 11 canary version because it's very unstable and you can't go to safe mode for ddu etc.

Still waiting on a fix for the 7000 series gpu for warzone verdansk major stuttering! C’mon AMD 🤞

i think the problem is on Windows and AMD doent work with Microsoft to solve this mess OR Microsoft supports only Nvidia for some reason idk

@Dark_Phoenix_GR, this is an interesting observation, but I think then users on Windows 10 would not have problems either, yet such issues were reported here. On the other hand, one could assume that the DirectX 12 API on Windows 11 Insider Preview has undergone changes that positively affected the 7000 series. If possible, please take measurements of 1% and 0.1% FPS on the Verdansk map in the supermarket area and attach them here in the message. I think these screenshots can be added to the report for Activision to expedite the release of fixes.

i have installed Windows 11 24H2 stable version but i think i will install again Windows 11 canary version because i likes the butter smooth Verdansk and i will take screenshots...another user on other thread report that when he was on windows 11 23h2 he doent have issues and when he upgraded to 24h2 the problems have started it.

The user with the nickname @Anthopet seems to have tried both Windows 10 and Windows 11, but it apparently didn't help much with Verdansk, though it did help with multiplayer when updating to version 11. We should also check Reddit, maybe someone there isn't actually suffering from this problem due to using an older version of Windows.

UPD.: I asked my teammate with 7800 XT, he uses Windows 10 22H2, but the problem is also relevant in his case.

i have tried again the Windows 11 canary but they have update it and stutters and lag are back again...idk if amd doent  work with Microsoft and Activion to fix the drivers, shaders or whatever i will buy nvidia.

Everyone who sent reports to Activision, please check your email. They seem to have started examining the problem in more detail and are requesting the Crash Report File. Reply to them by email as well, because it's not possible to send this file through the website.

5800x + 7900xtx and it's stuttering only in Verdansk!
When they released Caldera back in the day I had 6900xt, only stuttering/frame skipping in Caldera,
they never fixed it, after one year was still broken only this map,
seems like it's the same all over again!!
Thank you AMD

Thank you very much for the lead, I didn't know about this issue. I found a thread called "Warzone stuttering with 6900 XT" with 500 messages, it's incredible reading, even more breathtaking than "AMD DAYZ LOW GPU USAGE FIX". @Matt_AMD is incredible, I love this guy now, absolute legend.

This whole story surprised me to my core, as I was using a very old by those standards 1070 at that time, and I had more than 100 frames, around 140, if I'm not mistaken. The game ran quite well for me, and now it's wild to see that people were having such frame drops even back then. Certainly, the problem was less pronounced then than it is now, but the fact that nothing could be done about it is simply confusing.

I wasn’t one of the people affected back during the Caldera days either — I only know about it because I’ve read posts from others on Reddit. But yeah, it seems like history is repeating itself… and that one didn’t have a happy ending. This isn’t looking good — it’s not normal for them to stay silent for this many days.

Extra information for you. When the large-scale  'zombies' mode was released in MW3 there was a problem with AMD GPU that was never fixed. Any time you faced towards the center of the map (that is where there was a lot going on- in the middle of the map), the frames would plummet by 100fps. It didn't matter if you were in a building, looking at a hill etc. If you faced towards the center of the map then the frames would plummet. The hitching feels very similar to now. Ive already given up hope. Going to get a rtx 4090.

I noticed that too, but one time I hopped on this mode the tornadoes in the middle of the map weren't there and the fps was stable everywhere I looked, so I think that problem is activision's. Overall mw3 zombies and dmz run fine.

We are aware of reports of stuttering on this map and are investigating to determine the cause of the issue. I'll be back to update the discussion when I have more information I can share.

In the meantime and as a temporary workaround, you may want to try setting a FPS cap below your maximum FPS range to help smooth out the gameplay.

Hopefully this time you’ll actually fix it, and it won’t end up like the Caldera era with the 6900s, where it never got solved. I find it unbelievable that you promote a game that doesn’t even work properly on all of your graphics cards.

Actually, it's not his fault, so no one shouldn't blame him. I think he really wants to help us, and tried to in previous cases, but unfortunately AMD ignores not only their consumers but also their employees. As far as I know, AMD employees are even forced to buy the company's products with their own money to test them, which is sad.

You're right — he's probably the least to blame for all this. But it's just my frustration talking... seeing the days go by and neither side saying anything is really getting to me.

Does anyone know anything about today's April 22 update?

Thanks for the update Matt, there's alot of eyes on this as reported on twitter, reddit (CODWARZONE) and AMD forums. Looking forward to a resolution

Hi Matt, thanks for the update. The problem is many of us have high end pc's with high refresh rate monitors. I have 1440p 360hz monitor. To play verdansk i have to limit my frames to 110- and even then I still get stuttering. I understand its temporary, but like i said, there were problems in the past that were never resolved. I ended up just playing resurgence which was fine and i could continually get over 300fps. When i have to limit the fps this low it defeats the purpose of having a high end monitor. Playing the game like this, with the jarring stutter makes me feel nauseous. I hope that a fix is found for all the people that are affected.

To get rid of the stuttering in my case, I have to lower the FPS to 80 — with a 7800X3D and a 7800XT. In the end, you fix one problem just to run into another: the lack of smoothness playing at 80 FPS. My only viable option is to enable Frame Gen and cap the FPS to my monitor’s refresh rate, which is another **bleep**ty option because of the input lag Frame Gen adds.

Hi Matt. Sorry to bother but it has been 2 weeks + Season Reloaded (Big Update) on Warzone and we didn't get a fix from the devs side or any update from the forum. Can you give us any news? either good or bad?

To me this is like reading Chinese, but I found this on Reddit and thought maybe it could be related to our issue…

If it’s not, just ignore it.

AMD 7000 Series Fixed Dx Navi Problem / Directx 11 problems solved !!! : r/AMDHelp

Fortunately or not, this is not strongly related in the case of COD. The problem is that Warzone uses DirectX 12, and this solution is for version 11. I have already mentioned this case in this thread, it helped with DayZ. And these cases are indeed similar, even in how AMD responded to it, but I hope for the release of fixes sooner than in several years.

Your explanation of what's going on seems to make the most sense out of everything I've read in this thread.

The issue varies massively depending on where in the map I am, with downtown being the worst. Perhaps because I'm not getting massively high frames to begin with, I'm not noticing the stuttering so much as I am the low average frames, though the 1% lows go as low as 60 for me.

Given as you've mentioned this is nothing new for AMD, or for AMD+warzone (I had similar issues with Caldera), I'm concerned that they knew this would be an issue before launch and won't be rushing to fix it.

It's also concerning that it's not clear where the accountability lies - yes Activision could've done more testing and consulting pre-launch, but you can't expect them to compensate too much for unstable architecture in order to cater to a relatively small customer base.

Out of interest, given your understanding of the issue, how difficult would the fix be, assuming it was a priority for them?

Well, first of all, this problem, like other similar ones, arises due to the collaboration between development studios and AMD as a partner. As paradoxical as it sounds, the optimization recommendations for graphics cards that AMD gives to its partners begin to backfire over time. The fact is, as I've already written, frequent changes in architecture lead to unexpected errors in code operations.

I'll give one example that my friend encountered in the game Far Cry New Dawn. He used a 7800X3D processor, which in this game incredibly heated up to 90+ degrees, and this didn't depend on the cooling system. The point is that at some point certain optimizations were implemented for AMD hardware affecting the processor cache (they were probably for the 5000 series, or maybe even earlier, when 3D cache technology didn't exist yet). As a result, such heavy cache load for processors with 3D cache caused immediate heating of this computing block to peak temperatures. By the way, as far as I know, this hasn't been fixed either, and the only solution remains limiting consumption through Windows Power Options, which leads to a significant reduction in core frequency.

All these optimizations are workarounds that need to be maintained over time, but they are forgotten about. Nvidia also has such cases; even the story with abandoning PhysX is somewhat reminiscent of this.

Regarding the time for a solution, I can't say anything for certain anymore. I think in May, around the 5th-7th, a new driver will be released. If there is no mention of this case in it, even in the known issues section, it may indicate that we'll have to wait several more months. But possibly, the developers at Raven Software or Treyarch will be able to solve the problem earlier on their side with the release of the season reboot update, which will be closer to mid-May. I hope this helps determine further plans.

UPD.: AMD has delayed the release of the 9060 XT, so the stable driver will also not be available before the 18th. 25.4.1 may have fixed the anti-lag problem in Adrenalin, but nothing more related to the COD.

A new driver was released today for the 7900 XTX, but it seems to be exclusive to that card — it doesn't show up for the 7800 XT or the 7900 GRE/XT. Also, there's no mention of the Verdansk issue, by the way.

This is an optional driver. It's basically a beta driver, and it's usually best not to use them at all. These drivers are for those who want "the best" support for a game that's just been released. We might have been lucky if Warzone had been mentioned in the known issues section, but it looks like we'll have to wait a little longer. It will be interesting to see now if there is any change in performance for KCD2, as is was lousy before.

UPD.: The first tests of the new driver have appeared, in general, if believe the channel "Ancient Gameplays", then nothing has changed, perhaps it has even become worse for those who want to play Oblivion Remaster.

It’s absolute joke 3 had 3 GPU’s with amd and backed em for years .. but I play competitive on warzone and 90% of my time is on there yet I carnt play it now … I won’t be buying amd again as they carnt even be arsed to acknowledge this issue or respond to the consumers that have spent a lot of money on there products…

I assume someone here must have tested the Radeon Pro driver version, right? There’s a guy on Reddit mentioning that with the latest version of those drivers, he gets lower FPS but no stuttering…

I am running a 7900XTX and 9800X3D, but Verdansk is unplayable with competitive settings due to stuttering. Multiplayer runs smoothly. After reading some Reddit threads, I noticed some users with 7000 series cards report no stuttering when playing on ultrawide monitors. Maybe it is just a fluke, but it is definitely an interesting finding.

After going through that old Caldera thread, I’ve completely lost all hope that they’ll fix this. Back then, they acknowledged the issue and never did anything about it… This is 100% the last AMD graphics card I’ll ever buy
