So last weekend I did a clean install of Win11 on my system, which has been up and running since October. Only reason I did a clean install is because I later noticed that the boot and recovery partitions got installed on my game MVNe drive.
Current build:
- Asus ROG X570 Crosshair Hero WiFi
- Ryzen 5800X
- Asus Strix 4080 OC (build was with a Strix 3080 OC)
- 2x Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 16GB DDR4 3600 C18 RAM
- WD Black 2TB SN850X (Disk 0, games)
- WD Black 2TB SN850 (Disk 1, OS)
The above build was upgraded from overtime, I've had the 5800X for about two years now. Pervious build was with a MSI B550 board, so the only things that carried over from my previous build was the 5800X, 3080 (replaced with 4080) and the SN850.
So after the clean install, everything went fine. I confirmed the partitions got installed on the correct drive so I continued with the normal set up, updates and installing my personally files.
I get everything set up, updated BIOS/Windows/Drivers etc. and run Ryzen Master. This is when all the blue screens happen, and they originally only happened during restarting the PC. I would get blue screens of "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and "page fault in nonpaged area". These would also continue to boot loop. I spent days trying to trouble shoot this, even saw JayzTwoCents was having a similar issue with his new 7950X3D build. He was getting the same blue screens as me.
Anyway, long story short it turns out the issue is with the core offset values by Ryzen Master.
I have the original values saved on a notepad that have been used for a long time and been stable.
Before clean install:
Game auto OC mode w/CO
- Boost Override: 150
- PPT: 155
- TDC: 95
- EDC: 141
- CO1: -30
- CO2: -11
- CO3: -30
- CO4: -30
- CO5: -18
- CO6: -28
- CO7: -30
- CO8: -9
CB R23 score: 158xx
After clean install:
Game auto OC mode w/CO
- Boost Override: 150
- PPT: 155
- TDC: 95
- EDC: 141
- CO1: -30
- CO2: -19
- CO3: -30
- CO4: -30
- CO5: -18
- CO6: -30
- CO7: -30
- CO8: -9
CB R23 score: 161xx
Boost Override, PPT, TDC and EDC are set manually by me, I found those values to be the best for my CPU. Temps sit in the low 70°'s under full load. I tried lowering all core offsets that were -30 to as low as -20 and core 2 and 5 to -10, still got blue screens. I tired uninstalling Ryzen Master and manually inputting the values in the BIOS, still got blue screens. Reinstalled Ryzen Master and ran another per core optimizer, very similar results with the only difference CO2 went from -19 to -20. Ran all core optimizer and it set all core offsets to -30. I spent hours trying to find a stable offset for each core, turns out the most stable is now -5 all core results in a CB R23 score of 155xx. I even tried clearing the CMOS and flashed the BIOS with the version that has been stable, still same results.
This is really confusing me as my system ran flawlessly pre clean install. Possibly something to do with the latest AMD chipset drivers released on 2/28/2023?
