Last September I started noticing that I wasn't able to play the game Noita anymore. The game would completely freeze visually. I could still interact with it. Pressing buttons in the menu would play sounds and I could hear changes being made. But no visual update would occour. Screencapture software just shows a blackscreen, while my monitor displays a freeze frame.
I just thought it might be a bad update and let it rest for a while. However no fix was in sight. Later I realized, that this only occours when in fullscreen. Doesn't matter if its borderless or not, the moment the games resolution is the same as my screen (1080p) it freezes. Later I discovered that other games are affected as well. Most notably Minecraft. The others are small indie titles. I can play MC in windowed mode, but pressing f11 bricks it. Some games have become completely unplayable, since they force start in fullscreen and I can't navigate an options menu I can't see.
I have found some previous posts here about similar problems. The solution was a version rollback or a complete reinstall. Both didn't work (yes I used DDU to remove every trace of amd drivers and installed adrenaline from scratch).
This is getting frustrating and I hope someone here has an idea what could be causing this. I have and RX 6600 and currently running Version 25.3.1
I have added some pictures of how minecraft behaves. The first is how it looks upon startup. The game still runs however. I hear the menu music in the background. The second is when I minimize it again. This doesn't fix the problem however, the game is bricked.
Any help would be appreciated.
Have you found a solution to this?
Just want to say that I found a solution for this erro, just clean the drivers with the amd ddu, and install the version 24.5.1 of adrenalin.
This should fix your problem, I have the exact same problem with the same graphic card and this fixed it for me.
No not yet sadly
Did you have this problem with previous versions of adrenalin drivers? If not, I'd use the AMD DDU tool to uninstall and clean out your drivers, then roll back to an earlier release until a new release comes out to try.
How can I roll back to an earlier version? I have a RX 6600 XT and I'm having the same problem.
Everytime I fullscreen certain games the game just freezes but the sound still works normally
You can delete Adrenalin as you would any other program, afterwards you can try the mentioned program DDU to remove every trace of amd drivers from your computer
