Black screen during POST procedure

Hello everyone,

so recently I've finished my built. The problem is that I can't see the BIOS it just shows a black screen until win10 lock screen shows up. Everything worked perfectly fine (and by that I mean I could see the splash screen and the BIOS) until I installed GPU drivers. I can uninstall them to see the BIOS again but it does not really resolve the issue here. Also, one thing that I noticed is that when I plugged in my PC into my TV's HDMI port the splashscreen was visible as if everything worked just fine. However on my monitor I can't see anything during the POST procedure. Has anyone faced a similiar issue before? Could it be the monitor?

Specs:

  • AsRock Z790 Pro RS/D4
  • I5-13600k
  • radeon rx 7700 xt
  • 32 gb ram
  • win 10

This can be related to the cable or simply fast boot mode in the UEFI. Does your monitor have multiple inputs? If yes, is it on auto-detection or a fixed input?

Is it possible that it's because of my very cheap (hdmi 1.4) cable? It's not of a good quality whatsoever but it worked fine when I used it to connect the same PC to a TV. And yes, my monitor has multiple inputs. I tried both: auto-detection and a fixed input as well.

Ever since I purchase my Nvida 1070 GPU card I had video output during POST didn't matter If I had the monitors connected via HDMI or DP.  But that was because in BIOS I had CSM Mode and not UEFI Mode enabled.

When I upgraded to Windows 11 and enabled UEFI Mode in BIOS Settings, I lost Video output to my 4k LG Monitor during POST. The only way I was able to get video output if I connected my Samsung Smart 2k TV. Then I had video output during POST and was able to enter BIOS to configure it.

But then when I was installing a hardware on my Motherboard I used a PCIe GPU Power cable from another PSU that was incompatible to my Nvidia GPU power port. The GPU Power LED was RED indicating a Power issue.

So I  connected my molex to PCIe GPU Power cable again and everything was okay. But now for some reason afterwards I am now getting video output on my 4k LG monitor during POST with UEFI Mode enabled in BIOS.  I was shocked but happy to this new development.

But now I found out that my GPU started crashing , Black screen, when watching certain Youtube videos intermittently. So I needed to turn off Firefox Hardware Acceleration setting and that helped fix the blackout issues.

Then I learned that Youtube has a feature called AMBIENT MODE which puts a lot of stress on the GPU card so I disabled that and enabled Hardware Acceleration in Firefox and so far I haven't had any more crashes while watching certain Youtube videos.

NOTE: By the way I did have video output also on my 4k LG Monitor only when Windows started loading when I had UEFI Mode enabled in BIOS settings.

EDIT: Just ran OCCT GPU vRAM test and the GPU crashed with a black screen. So it seems I might have damaged my GPU card plugging in a incompatible PSU PCIe GPU power cable. But otherwise I will purchase I new card when the damage gets to the point I am not able to use my computer anymore. For now the GPU card works normally under normal circumstances except when watching certain Youtube videos but that has be generally fixed for now.
