Hi. I'm a bit confused as to why this is happening, and also confused as to why this new update system is a thing, despite the old one done directly within the AMD App working fine. (And've used for years with no issue, by the way.)
My hardware:
Thanks.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Have you tried a manual update of the chipset drivers?
And if you want, the amd auto updater can be uninstalled from windows apps. (you then have the old update settings back in adrenalin).
its not working for anything, had to download manually, so broken
I've seen a few posts other then mine about this, but the solutions in them only gave install errors. I also tried AMD's Cleanup Utility and fully reinstalling after a reboot, but again, same issue.
Soooo... I'm stuck.
I believe that AMD Cleanup Utility only uninstalls AMD Graphics drivers and not CHIPSET drivers.
I would use MS Install/Uninstall Tool to delete all AMD Drivers (Non-GPU drivers) and Chipsetsshowing and then downloading from AMD Download website the latest AMD CHIPSET Package for your Motherboard and installing it: Microsoft Install/Uninstall Tool
a lot of ppl have heavy problems with chipset drivers atm!!!
so.... maybe its better to wait some more weeks 😉
or do you need a newer version because of any other issues?
The B550 chipset is 5 years old, there's no need to upgrade drivers unless they release a new AM4 CPU and/or your motherboard BIOS update requires it. At this point the AM4 platform is pretty static. If you read the release notes there hasn't been a major development since Windows 11 other than occasional bug fixes.
As @crystalyser asks, are you experiencing issues? If not, then don't worry.
@FunkZ has a good point here. Probably no need to update the chipset drivers on that board
I would still prefer to update things so Windows and AMD Software doesn't keep nagging me about it.

Wait- I thought the Install Manager replaced AMD Software's old update system. I did NOT know you could uninstall that to get back the old one.
Software isn't detecting any Chipset updates. Best guess is the Install Manager was probably thinking an update existed and couldn't download it due to no update existing? I'm not sure.
Just a guess seeing as you were offered 7.02 driver, maybe 7.04 was released & in transition on download site when you first tried (and possibly 7.02 being moved to Previous?).
Well again, I have no idea.
