I'm just curious what the community does after building a new PC and after installing your OS of choice? For me, I get all my driver's installed, then I usually do an undervolt on my CPU followed by debloating Windows 11 of any programs I don't use. Finally I ctrl- alt- delete and go into my start-up and disable almost everything, with only the essential processes starting up when I power on the PC. What about you guys?
I'm not quite that ambitious about debloating Windows 11; I will go into Start Up after installing drivers and motherboard support apps to see what is running in the background, but I typically only disable a few things like Skype and such. Oh, I don't like anything AI related starting up, like Microsoft's Copilot. I don't under-volt anything really. I will check the BIOS for memory settings and enable EXPO after I'm sure the computer is running well. Then it's the games - start with Steam, and then a few common games that get played at my LAN parties, including my favorite 'World of Tanks - Blitz'.
Install Windows or Linux, then install drivers, then overclock.
Don't you go through a few stress tests before jumping into overclocking @QnastyQnasty? I like to play a game or run a few tests before going off the default settings.
I typically reuse (or clone) the storage when upgrading, specifically so I don't have to reinstall everything, just the new drivers. I'll have recorded some benchmarks on the old hardware, then run them again on the new hardware at default settings, to see how much it has improved. This also gives me a baseline for when I start tweaking the new hardware to optimize performance.
I usually just install drivers and run some OCCT tests to test stability. I did fool around with curve optimizer with a negative voltage offset but I didn't see any major changes in temps with my most stable offset being at -20. -30 fails core cycler.
Normally nothing really. Just drivers.
The main computer does not see a Windows install since Seven back in 2010. Then I updated to 10.
I believe I havent reinstalled Windows on my main machine since two board upgrades ago.
Probably going to update to 11 next month or so.
