Display Port V1.2 - Intermittent black screen

R5-9600X > ASUS B650M-E > RX 7800 XT > Samsung Odyssey G50 > AMD graphics Driver: 25.5.1

Can not keep a stable image on DP 1.2. Intermittent black screen. Change Samsung DP to 1.1, and the image is stable, but I lose variable refresh. Also big drop in FPS

This appears to be a known issue and appears on multiple posts across many message boards. If anyone has found a solution they could share, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Lillian826Pena and thanks for your reply.

I have found a workaround for the issue by limiting the refresh rate of my Samsung Odyssey G5 32 to 144Hz and disabling FreeSync in the monitor settings.

It looks like this is a Samsung issue. I found this video that explains how Samsung stretches the truth on the 165Hz capability on the G5.

Hopefully there will be a Samsung firmware update soon or AMD create their own workaround in their next update.

DisplayPort 1.2 (HBR2) offers a maximum of 21.6 Gbps raw bandwidth (≈17.28 Gbps after encoding), which can be pushed to its limits when driving a 1440p panel at 165 Hz—resulting in intermittent sync failures and black screens
