Unable to install a Catalyst driver for FirePro V8800 under Windows server 2008R2

Hello everybody,

I just got a FirePro V8800 to improve processing using GPU on my application with OpenCL.

The problem is the driver on Windows 2008R2 for FirePro.

- either I install a certified driver, but release is 8.8xx and is not OpenCL.

- or I try to install later release (12.2 pre-certified) but Catalyst Pro does not seems to agree with this configuration (and according to GPU-Z, no OpenCL available).

Where can we find a windows 2008R2 driver for FirePro V8800 with OpenCL support ?

Thanks,

Christophe.

The appropriate driver for AMD graphics cards may be found at:

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

The latest FirePro driver (8.911.3.1) for Windows 2008 x64 is here

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/fire/Pages/fire_win2k8-64.aspx

and it does include the OpenCL runtime. This OpenCL runtime is slightly older than the consumer version due to the additional testing and bug fixing the professional driver undergoes.

Please note that our consumer drivers (branded as Catalyst 12.1, 12.2, etc.) are not compatible with our professional range of cards.

Hi,

after multiple tries, the driver "FirePro_8.911.3.1_WinServer2008R2x64_132591" does not install correctly.

It start installing the Video Driver, then goes in black screen (computer not locked because file sharing still working), but no more access to the computer screen. I tried remote access but I got an unusable screen displayed.

I tried safe uninstall of all video driver and used CCleaner to be sure to have clean startup, but this driver always lock my display. I can only reset the server.

After reset, the server shows driver 8.911.3.1000 as driver release and device working properly, but no OpenCL.

I think that the driver installation is not complete.

OK, the driver only is installed,

going in the directory of "FirePro_8.911.3.1_WinServer2008R2x64_132591" and installing manually OpenCL give access to OpenCL computing !

Thanks.

Hello, i have a similar problem maybe similar to what you had in the past and i appreciate it if u can help me. Capture 1.jpgAfter installing my new Firepro w8100 and V5900, I went to AMD website to auto detect the best driver for both of my cards, and it gave me the 14.502.1019.0 driver to install which said it has OpenCl runtime. After installing the driver, when I try to render on my GPU cards using Vray RT 3.0 which has an OpenCL render option switch, see (capture 1),   the Vray screen detects the OpenCl hardware which is my w8100 with the Hawaii chip and my V5900 with the Cayman chip  and my CPU Fx8350. Rendering on my GPU cards keeps failing compiling OpenCl Kernels, and keeps falling back on my cpu only see (capture 2) Vray Screen log. I don't have the SDK APP 3.0 intalled yet cause am afraid to install it since I have no programing knowledge and don't know what is it supposed to do. please anyone can give me some direction of what needs to be done in order to utilize both GPU cards in rendering on Vray RT. Thank you.Capture 2.jpg
