My OpenCL app has only been running on windows so far, but Linux is also a target OS.

How do AMD cards perform on Linux vs WIndows ?

Generally OpenCL performance is pretty similar between Linux and Windows. BTW the article you linked was for an early preview of the new amdgpu hybrid driver, released specifically to make our Vulkan driver publicly available. The last benchmark results I found with production drivers is at the following link:
