Hello,

I own an RX 560 (4g) XFX AMD graphics card and have windows 8.1 as my operating system. Even though the RX 560  box clearly states that Windows 8 is supported, to my dismay I discovered it is not. I called XFX and their tech support laughed. I contacted AMD and they chose not to respond. I included the attachment of a photo of the box that indicates Windows 8 is supported--but AMD and XFX remains indifferent. At the moment, I cannot afford another operating system. Is there any one out there who can provide a work-around so I can at the very least get dual monitors working? I tried legacy drivers for the RX 460, windows 7 and 10 drivers and none work so far. Any work around or link would be great appreciated.

This answer is not correct. First, the free upgrade ended years ago. Second, I called Microsoft directly and they told me, 'yes, absolutely you can upgrade, if you buy a Windows 10 license.' Fourth, the link looks dodgy. I will not put my computer at risk for an unsupported solution. 

So the point here is that I bought a product from XFX/AMD which indicated on the box that Windows 8.1 is supported and it is not. XFX tech said that if I sent them the RX 560, they would kindly send me an RX 480, which is not a very nice solution to their misleading information. 

So the next step is to find out if I can still get drivers that will get me dual screen. So the XFX box comes with a drivers disc, but only for Windows 7 and 10, NOT for 8. So where can I get some functional legacy drivers for an RX 560 for Windows 8.1, like the box clearly says.

The answer Is correct,I just did a bootable usb using  Media Creation Tool from that link,I did a fresh install into my old Gaming rig running W7 Pro.I used My W7 key and It installed and is now Activated with a digital license to W 10 Pro.

The only thing I found in my case was that it didn't want to do an upgrade,only a fresh install.

I loved my W7 and reinstalled it after trying W 10 when the "free upgrade" was available and hated it,But we will eventually have to upgrade to it at some point,So in march I built a new system and bought W 10 Pro,so far I am very happy with it,that's why I did the "upgrade" on my old system this morning and know it works.

The reply of upgrading without the sanction of Microsoft is still not good. It is an unsupported solution, even though it works for some. In my case, I need a reliable solution I can count on. Today's unsupported answer may not be good for tomorrow. For instance, sometimes I need to re-install the OS because of a virus, a new hard drive or whatever fiasco. If I have an official install disc and the OS has not reached end-of-life (like 8.1), then I have a reasonable expectation of a good install and functioning hardware as advertised. However, in a month or longer, Microsoft may start to crack down on the unofficial upgrades. That is why it is good to support the official OS' that are out there. Nvidea (had I bought their GPU's) would have me covered for 8.1. So it is good to go the safer, reliable route. I do not use the computer for gaming, but critical tasks and need reliability. It also happens that I am in a pinch and cannot run out and buy another OS, so it is between a rock and a hard place. These unsupported solutions do make me feel let down. If you have a valid license key, Microsoft ought to honor upgrades or at least ensure that the drivers are functional while an OS still is within the supported life span. Goodness knows they have enough money. Now AMD is a fortune 500 company and surely they have enough money to make sure their hardware is supported instead of leaving clients hanging.

Unsupported? It's from Microsoft and is Activated through Microsoft.It's as legit as it gets.

Are you just finding ways to prove the free upgrade does not work? You are wrong...it does. You have been told and shown how to do it. Ignore the advice and buy a Win10 disk from Microsoft, but stop saying there is no free upgrade as we all know there is. Ignorance is supposed to be bliss.
