Shadow of The Tomb Raider and Vega 64 mGPU issues.

I'm currently using a Vega 64 mGPU setup and I'm having issues running SotTR with any shadows. Here are the scenarios:

  1. If I start the game with shadows on at any setting, I crash.
  2. If I turn off the game with shadows, it will run fine, BUT as soon as shadows are turned on in-game...CRASH!

Any ideas on how to get shadows to work?

Other folks having the same problem:

File bug reports with AMD and Square Enix. Provide logs and crash dumps to Nixxes (upload to file sharing service and send them a link on the Steam forum for the game).

You might also try Windows 10 Build 1903 when it becomes available.

Grab the log file, dump and a DxDiag, upload to a file sharing site and send the link to Nixxes on the Steam Forum (Shadow of the Tomb Raider General Discussions :: Steam Community ).  The log and dump are in your documents folder (there should be a SOTTR folder)....make sure to grab the dump file that matches the log.  For the DxDiag just run DxDiag and save the output to a file.

Also file bugs against the AMD drivers and open a support ticket.  You can also try opening a ticket with Square Enix but they're useless.

Nixxes says action is needed from AMD to resolve this problem:

0x887A006: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG with Shadow Quality set to anything other than 'Off' :: Shadow of ...

Thank you for reaching out, we have raised this with the dev team but it needs AMD attention to resolve this issue. We recommend you raise this issue with AMD to see this resolved.

Please open a support ticket:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/contact-email-form

Also file a report against the latest driver:

In both cases, please mention the statement by Nixxes.
