Radeon HD 7870 shutting down at 60 degrees C. Time for a new one?

Shuts down pc whan it hits 60 degrees C.

I would inspect the card itself. Make sure the fan is running. Make sure it is clean. Blow the heat sink out with air. If that alone does not help. It may be time to replace the thermal grease on the gpu and pads on the memory and vrm's. It is a little work and not too expensive to do this. You can google and there are videos showing how. You can get kits on-line for the grease and pads. If this is a task you don't want to try, that card is getting pretty old and you can certainly get a better than equivilent card pretty cheap.
