New PC, Monitors losing signal, GPU Crashing, At wits end.

Hi all, Im really at my wits end on this and need help.

Ive built a new Gaming PC 6 days ago, In the small amoutn of time ive played it ive currently had the monitors lose signal 4 times but the PC Keeps running i.e youtube keeps playing music in the background fans dont stop but i cannot get the signal back (Screens off then on unplug replug ect) and the only way to fix is a hard restart. It has happened twice while playing Ghost recon: Breakpoint, Once while playing PUBG, once while playing Dota. Dota is so unintensive that i dont see how it could of done it but alas it did.

I have all of the latest Drivers for Chipset, GPU, PCIELAN, Audio and i flashed the Bios with latest Bios.

On Ryzen Master the CPU Idles at 30'C & Full Loads at around 55'C.

On AMD Wattman the GPU Idles at 50'C and Full Loads at 65'C GPU And 80'C Junction.

I honestly have no idea why its happening and dont know how to go about investigating it.

I Dont see how any of the crashes were relateable either and have no idea how to replicate them. There is no message in eventviewer except the power was turnt off unexectedly (Me turning it off by the switch).

Can anyone Help? Thanks.

My System is

Hello,

So up until yesterday, the 5700 xt drivers exhibited this issue. I even had this on my 1st card. I tried swapping display port cables and that seemed to work but wasn't the core of the problem. The newest driver 19.12.2 says that this issue has been fixed but I have not been able to test this yet. Maybe it will help?

Fixed Issues

  • Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products may intermittently experience loss of display or video signal during gameplay.

No, they didn't fix it. I have the same problem. Yesterday I downloaded the drivers and today I tried to install fresh Windows with these drivers. The problem still exists.

From what you guys are saying it would seem the problems relate to multi-monitor support.  I only have a single 4k 32" HDR monitor, a BenQ EW-3270U. Hardware:

Windows10x64 v1909, build 18363.535
Latest Adrenalins--19.12.2 (2020)
AMD 50th Anniversary 5700XT
Aorus Master x570 UEFI bios F10
Corsair HX-850 PSU (72a x1 12v rail)
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X @ 3.8Ghz & boost
RAM 16GB 2x8GB, Patriot Viper Elite PV416G320C6K @3200mhz 16 16 16 36 1T OC'ed @ 3733Mhz 18-19-19-19-38-68 1T--standard v of 1.35 set in bios
LG MultiDrive DVD writer SATA
Boot: Samsung 960 EVO NVMe 250GB (UEFI boot partition)
2x 1TB WD Blue 7200 rpm S3
ST2000DM S3 2TB
ST4000DM004 S3 4TB
BenQ EW-3270U 4k, HDR10 monitor

I suppose that since July11, when I installed the 5700XT, I maybe have had 3-5 instances of black screen, dropped GPU signal,  to the monitor.  Consider though, that my computer operates from 8:00 am - ~10:00 pm, 7/365 a year, and you can see how very infrequent the problem was for me.  But I do remember it happening, and so I reported it here for this thread.  But as branches states, supposedly that was fixed with the newer 2020, 19.12.2 Adrenalins.  I don't know--but I've no dropped screen since yesterday....;)

So from what I read it happens mostly to people running multiple monitors from the same 5700XT GPU, so my first advice would be to disconnect all monitors aside from your main monitor, and see how that goes.  If you are happy, then connect the second and continue to run with two monitors--and last, of course, connect the third and see what happens there.  Make notes of each stage as you go, and take it from there.

I think that the connection details are very important.  The 5700XT is a real Display Port 1.4 GPU--so only connect it with a DP1.4 cable, and for best results, to a DP 1.4 monitor, as well.  If you want to go with DP1.4, don't let anyone talk you into a DP1.2 cable saying "it's just as good" as a DP1.4 cable--1.4DP connectivity gives you the maximum supported options of the DP standard as of this date, and so insist on a DP 1.4 cable, too, if going the DP1.4 route.  That's the way my system is configured.   But in the event that your main monitor (or all of your monitors) are Display Port 1.2, then I would go with DP1.2 cables --trying to keep everything matched to the capability of your DP monitor (1.2/1.4).  It might not be strictly necessary to match connections like this, but in the interests of narrowing down probable multi-GPU sync solutions I recommend keeping them matched, always.  (One Benefit of DP1.4 GPU, cable, and monitor is running HDR @4k--which I do occasionally.)

Wish I could help with HDMI but I don't run HDMI at all, actually.  So I have no suggestions for HDMI other than to generally match cable and monitor spec to the GPU output you wish to use, like I recommended with DP1.4/2.  Hope you get it sorted!

Hey,

some people report similar issues all over the forum. Try windowed mode, if that does not help and you are running 19.12.2 try disabling all Radeon features (anti-lag, image-sharpening, enhanced sync) and try fullscreen again. It seems to be  a driver issue.

I have this problem also. It happens randomly and I cannot recreate it anyway, sometimes it happens when I load into a game sometimes while just alt tabbing once it happened when I did not even have a game open just browsing/ watching videos.

Also for some reason if i have some video or stream playing on my second monitor which is 60hz my 144hz monitor would lock to 60hz as well... making it completely pointless.
