Hi AMD folks,

Just got an XFX MERC 6800XT Black to replace an RTX 1070 that died. got most things setup, but SteamVR seems totally broken. my Valve Index just shows up as a **bleep**ty monitor, which it's not supposed to, and trying to switch to Direct Mode in SteamVR doesn't work. Steam doesn't detect the headset, and I can't launch anything in VR.

does anyone know what weirdness is going on here, and how I should fix it? it's very aggravating. I haven't bought an AMD video card in years, and it's been a very rude surprise that it doesn't just work properly like it's supposed to.

I had to completely purge the AMD drivers from my system and reinstall fresh, and then it worked fine. it sucked, but maybe that'll work for you too.

I have the same GPU but running an original Vive, still running into issues on a full new windows 10 install with latest drivers.  Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, extremely annoying and hard to pin down.
