Is the AMD HD 5450 backward compatible with pcie v1.1 for use on older motherboards?

Hi Folks,

I would be
most grateful if anyone could help with the following:

I have a
DELL 9200 Dimension series desktop pc which has an ATI Radeon X1300 Pro video
card installed.

I upgraded
from Win XP to Win 7 x64 a few years ago and my X1300 is working fine.

Most info
on the web suggests that the X1300 card is not compatible with Win 10.

I'm now
trying to get ready to upgrade to Win 10.

However,
my mobo PCIe is only level 1.1 and most new graphics cards are PCI 2.0 or
greater.so I need to find a PCIe graphics card which is advanced enough to be
compatible with Win 10 but old enough or backward compatible right back to PCIe
v 1.1

I'm looking at the HD5450 as a possible solution hence the above question.

If anybody
has already solved this issue I would love to know which card was used.

All help
appreciated.

  1. Regards.

The X1300 is not compatible with Windows 10.

The HD 5450 has now reached peak optimisation and has been moved to legacy stats, so it won't be receiving any further driver updates, but it does have Windows 10 drivers available and is compatible. PCI-E is backwards compatible, so a HD 5450, would work with any PCI-E version including 1.1.

You can download the latest Crimson drivers for the HD 5450 here.
