How to set my dGPU as primary/ disable the iGPU

Laptop : Acer Nitro 5, AN515-42

CPU : Ryzen 5 2500U

GPUs : Radeon Vega 8,

             Radeon RX 560X

OS : Windows 10 Pro 64 bit/ Debian sid

Radeon Software : Adrenalin, 18.12.2

BIOS Version : 1.11 (latest as of Jan 2018)

RAM : 8GB DDR4, 2666Mhz

I want to make my dGPU the primary display adapter in my laptop.

I have already tried disabling the Vega 8, but no option is present for this in the BIOS.

I then tried disabling the Vega 8 from Device Manager. However, it simply switches to Microsoft basic VGA adapter  and doesn't use the RX 560X ( though that can be viewed in Radeon settings).

I need to disable my iGPU, or set the dGPU as primary in order to use RoCm, as it works only with a single GPU setups.

Any help would be really appreciated. !

If this 'How To' doesn't work https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh-017 then you should contact Acer support.

Switchable graphics works perfectly on my system.
However, I am unable to find a way to disable my integrated GPU.

I tried disabling it from device manager but instead of using the RX 560X it switched to Microsoft default adapter.

I need to disable it as I have to use RoCm, but that works only on single GPU setups.

Thanks

i also have this problem - and so far there is NO Solution for that :/

what you can do is disable your dGPU and give some more juice on your APU (Ryzen 5 2500U or Ryzen 7 2700U) - like 45W && running dual-channel ram.
i get 60-90fps in Dying Light (1366x768) when doing so - or 100fps in Overwatch (also 1366x768)

btw - you can OC your display and enable FreeSync with CRU 1.4.2 - i posted a tut here (i have 100hz with 35-99hz FreeSync)

PC: R7 2700X @PBO + RX 580 4G (1500MHz/2000MHz CL16) + 32G DDR4-3200CL14 + 144hz 1ms FS P + 75hz 1ms FS
Laptop: R5 2500U @30W + RX 560X (1400MHz/1500MHz) + 16G DDR4-2400CL16 + 120Hz 3ms FS
