Egpu with 6800xt

Hi, I am currently using a razer blade with 11900h and the coreX

the GPU is a red devil 6800xt

In certain games the performance was very bad.

Currently games with problem:

Battlefield 2042, with 1080p low setting only reaching sub-60fps

Far Cry 6, with 1080p low, FSR performance, reach a 30fps average on benchmark.

Apex legends, with 1080p low, reaching 100fps in shooting range but sub 20fps in real game.

While some of other games runs fine. The Warthunder runs smooth in film quality at 180fps, battlefield 1 with 1080p high running at 140fps.

How to solve those problems?

I was going to ask if you were using a Mac Laptop but then I see that the Razer Blade Laptop comes with Windows.

Can you post the exact Make & Model of your laptop and CoreX EGpu enclosure?

According to Razer Core X, that EGpu enclosure is not compatible with the RX6000 series GPU cards unless it is outdated list: https://www.razer.com/gaming-egpus/razer-core-x/RC21-01310200-R3U1

The Sonnet Break away Boxes are compatible: https://www.sonnettech.com/support/downloads/manuals/Compatibility_Graphics_Cards.pdf

Hi.thanks for the reply. i have a razer blade advanced 2021 with i9 11900h and 3080. the egpu enclosure is a corex chroma with 700w psu. i believe razer has a outdated list, since the last time i used a nvidia 3090 gpu, it worked fine but it is not on the list at that time. furthermore, on amd xconnects compatibility page, 6000series is not supported officially. although when i plugged it in, it was picked up by xconnect

also thanks for the info about other enclosure, i would try to find another one to try if it was razer's problem.

You are using a Windows OS in your laptop correct or is it MacOS?

I would open a Razor Support ticket just to verify the 6000 series is compatible.

By the way, your EGpu is compatible with your Nvidia GPU card. That is why is worked without any issues:

The Chroma PSU is slightly under-powered for the RX6800XT which according to AMD requires a minimum PSU of 750 Watts. But it should still power up and work though. That is probably why it isn't listed in the Compatibility List for AMD GPU cards.

hi @tallygu233  , i have to this problem with rx6900xt

maybe this link can help you : https://community.amd.com/t5/graphics/6900xt-not-100-use-at-all-games-just-using-70/m-p/491628#M7979...

@tallygu233

Well according to MacArthur reply it probably is an issue with the GPU card itself and not the EGpu enclosure as far as playing games goes.
