Black Screen Crashes on id Tech Games (RX 480)

I keep getting crashes to a black screen in Dishonored 2 (which uses a modified version of id Tech 5) and Quake Champions (Runs on id Tech 6). I have not experienced these crashes in DOOM though which uses id Tech 6 and it didn't crash in both Open GL and Vulkan. The crash starts with the game freezing, followed by a black screen, then a hard restart. I do not receive any crash logs from the games so I cannot provide any. I am using the latest drivers as of 6/15/2017. Please ask if you need more information to provide a useful answer.

My PC Specs

CPU: AMD A8-6600K

GPU: RX 480

Ram: 8GB

OS: Windows 10

FX8320 is min spec for D2 (and seems it struggles going by some reviews), have they patched the memory leak yet, look in event viewer for Resource exhausted (i gave up on the demo).

Can't say for QC.

Re: Black Screen Crashes on id Tech Games (RX 480)

Not enough CPU power would result in bad performance and not as dramatic of crashes. The game ran fine before 2017 so it is not the CPU acting up. I did not experience this crash anywhere near as often as I do now. Even then, on games that really need a lot from the CPU like Mideval Engineers and Space Engineers I have not experienced any similar issues.

Re: Black Screen Crashes on id Tech Games (RX 480)

This is an application event, that doesn't explain the hard reset. You need to look for a system crash event, in the Security and Maintenance section.

What motherboard are you using and with which BIOS version? Also, is the APU GPU enabled? If it is, try disabling it.
