AMD Radeon R9 M275 does not work with Adobe Premiere Pro CC

I bought couple of months ago Lenovo Y40-80 laptop with 16 GB RAM, i7-5500U, 512 GB SSD, AMD Radeon R9 M275 4GB. I wanted to replace my 4 years old desktop for video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro CC), but this did not work well because of the Radeon video card. AMD Catalyst Control Center refuses to use the video card for video editing and even for the video play in applications like VLC and Media Player Classic?! All these applications are locked in Power Saving mode. Today I downloaded the latest beta version of the Catalyst 14.502 from May 26 2015, still the same thing.

Why would I need a (relatively powerful) graphics card if I cannot do video editing? This card is supposed to be on par with 7770, in my desktop I had 7750 that worked decent enough. The play in Adobe Premiere Pro stutters with R9 M275 (probably because I am left with the Intel integrated video on i7-5500U) which makes editing impossible.

That is Lenovo's switching program designed by them to work on your model laptop. AMD has nothing to do with it. You can go into the bios, and change the displa or graphics from 'switchable' or 'dynamic' (Whatever words Lenovo uses) to 'fixed' or 'static' (or whatever word Lenovo uses). This forces the laptop to use the discrete (AMD) card only.

I would use Google to search for a answer or ask Adobe.

I found this older post, maybe some new ideas here > Adobe Premiere Pro CC crashes (locked in power saving mode)

Re: AMD Radeon R9 M275 does not work with Adobe Premiere Pro CC

Thank you so much for sending the BIOS suggestions and the links from the Adobe forums!

I attempted the BIOS solution, but found the performance to be the same.

I found in the latest Beta Catalyst Control Center new menu item - 'Switchable Graphics Application Monitor' and it confirms that the high Performance GPU is used, even though the application is shown with the lock!!!

So probably this means that 7750 is more powerful than R9 M275 for Adobe Premiere Pro, I will be waiting for the new release of the application for 2015 (coming soon), it might handle better the new GPU.

Thank you again for your help!
