Is there an issue with the cooler/thermal compound contact on my 7900 XTX?  Pretty much in any game I play it shoots up to 110C and stays there even with fans running full tilt at 100%.  Case temperature is doesn't get above 30C.  GPU temperature around 82-83C.  

It just seems wrong that the hotspot temperature is always MAX.  Should I RMA?

Also noticed game boost at default settings and fan going at 100% even with case panels all off only goes to around 2.2Ghz which is less than advertised.  I submitted the support form, this isn't right.

I notice this too, i just ran a game that it hit 110c MAX,

It should be fine if it only short time but it stayed there for awhile

What case do you guys have?

So after Is witched to a midi tower which also has decent cable management in the back my temps dropped by about 25C. So in my case my 7900 XT was too cramped and the airflow was really bad.

It was just my case that was the issue.

Doesn't like being "upright" mounted.

Ah right yeah that's a lot better than what I had while facing the same issue, a MS-Tech CROW Q1.

Which is really bad and I should have known. But yeah judging by your info there's def something wrong internally with the card, faulty cooling pads or something cause it should not be behaving that way for sure with your setup.

Bummer and good luck with the RMA process hope it gets handled fast and swift.

You cannot lie to physics. Vapour chamber are supposed to work in only one position.
Granted, i have no idea, why they made default position - vertical. . .

Got one 7900xtx today. Had it mounted horizontally.  Gpu temps 65 junction hits up to 110 in all games. Even MW2. Quite disappointing to be honest

i had the same issues...my card was at 80/110 as soon as i played something no matter what. i use a case where everything is vertically in the case which has been a cooling beast so far...rotated my case so the card sits as it would do in a normal case and as with you - heat issues solved and max temp and 100% usage is now below 70/around 80...doesn't really make sense but this card doesn't like to be mounted vertically

thx for reporting back that it worked for you which made me try this. was really disappointed with the card but now it seems to work, fingers crossed.

For me its the other way around when my Card is mounted normally in the case horizontally my temps go up to 80/110C and when i flip my case to the side so my card is vertically the temps get lower.

My Temps are actually worse they go up to 110C Junction and 80C GPU in 4 minutes:

You should RMA. Lots of us are having this problem, AMD needs to know it's an issue, and they need to fix it if it can be fixed.

Same here whit my reference card, junction temp always 110c and fans run at max. Pc case turned to side, then junction temp is 80-82c and fans are acting normally. Nice

I will caveat, I have no idea of the legitimacy of this person or their relation to the company(s) they claim relation to, but multiple of the people I have known to be usually correct have recommended me to pursue this information
