6900xt LESS FPS THAN A 1080 ???

i just bought my new 6900xt and now i have less fps than before with a simple 1080... maybe is bottleneck i have a ryzen 7 1700x for now but seems strange that fortnite is around 80/90 fps in 2k when before was over 120 fps with the 1080, and also in league of legends before i had like 190/200 fps and now only 110/130 always in 2k

These vid shows the 1700x,2700x and 3700x with an RTX3080.

They may help in seeing where abouts your system should be.(actually better than I thought)

Looks like your current mobo supports only up to the 3000 series CPU's.

It's about the best I got for you.

Thank you a lot for the support i saw now the video comparison of cpus but thats not like my 6900xt works, fortnite 1440 says average fps 177 and minimum 139 while at 1440 with 6900xt i do average of 90/80 i saw sometimes also a 50 fps frame

Your CPU is not able to deliver enough frames for the GPU to render, so it is only partially utilized at the moment. You can either try to increase resolution and image quality details in game, which will help to move the bottleneck from the CPU to the GPU somewhat, or you need a faster CPU. The latter would be the best, albeit the more expensive option.

The 6900 XT is pretty much the fastest graphics card available to buy today.

You would need to pair it with a Ryzen 5000 series CPU (i recommend 5800x or better) to fully unlock its true performance.

I also came from a 3900x/1080 and when AMD released their botched scsi driver my performance dropped down to 1080 levels.  I was forced to do a clean install on a clean install that was ruined by it and the 21.5.1 combo.  Now on default settings my rx 6900 xt rocks performance, albeit, not at 5950x levels.

One day when I can afford it I will upgrade to it but I have too many other things that are taking precedence over it right now.

If you're going to use AMD's best card you need an equally good CPU. I am running the 5950X with the RX 6900 XT. In 3D Mark Time Spy my score is 17304. Smart Access Memory is active. I am a happy gamer.

I also run with SAM enabled and here are my last three Time Spy benchmarks run at 3440 x 1440.

If you are playing lots of DX11 games, especially one that are mostly single threaded then you've made a VERY BAD CHOICE choosing AMD. AMD has notoriously bad and uneven performance in DX11 applications in heavy CPU scenarios. MOBA games like LoL can be CPU heavy.

There's nothing wrong with your CPU, and you are right in your observation -nvidia destroys even 6900XT in specific CPU heavy scenarios, because of AMD very poor DX11 driver coding, specifically API overhead.

If you can i would STRONGLY advise to return the GPU and buy 3080.

But if ill go with a 5900x or a intel 10900k i will solve the problem right ?

Because i see a lot of video of people using 6900xt and play fortnite at 200 fps 2k or LoL 400fps in 4k

Yes. Go with a Ryzen 5000 series CPU to unlock the full performance of the 6900 XT. If you use a Ryzen 5000 series, you'll be able to use Smart Access Memory for further performance increases. I believe it works quite well with the Call of Duty games.

Gents SAM works on zen 2 cpu's on my Gigabyte Aorus Master.

Better CPU will lessen the problem but a person with 5900x and 3080/3090 will still have better framerate in these specific CPU bound games on DX11, than a person with 5900x and 6900XT. We are obviously talking about minimum framerates, once lots of stuff appears all at once on screen, there's a lot of grass, objects, models etc. anything that causes lots of draw calls.

If you plan to play these cpu bound DX11 games and want the highest possible framerate, with much smaller FPS dips, then PLEASE BUY NVIDIA, AND RETURN YOUR AMD GPU.

Actually the RX 6900 XT does very well in DX 11 gaming if you have an up to date CPU. In addition the RX 6900 XT has 16GB of memory which means almost any resolution you wish to game at will work just fine. The RTX 3080 is a formidable GPU but good luck trying to find one to buy right now.
