6800xt Broken After Driver Update

This morning I ran a driver update on my 6800xt. During the update the screen went black and now my start up screen will not display. Everything turned on and it running. Took it to microcenter and the tech says the GPU is broken. What could be the issue and what are my options, I just bought this GPU last year brand new.

If you bought it last year, it should still be under warranty. If it is indeed broken, you should RMA it.

The waranty case may be your best solution, though if someone other than where you bought it from diganosed, the waranty may be void. I would suggest not putting everyting into that one opinion you've gotten from microcenter and visiting another place. Even if it's broken it might still be repairable.
