10-bit Pixel Format makes game stuttery

I have a 10 bit monitor (8 bit+FRC). I had some issues that all browsers running chromium had less contrast than they are supposed to, or black was grey. No issues with Firefox but that is not the browser I want to use.

Found out that enabling the setting called "10-bit Pixel Format" fixed that issue, even if I dont know what it does as in the Display settings its still 8 bit color Depth as that is what it allows me to enable.

But when I have it on, games feel stuttery even if I am still running 60 FPS. I mean it feels like the game is running 30 FPS ish maybe even tho it isnt.

Anyone know why and if there is an solution?

did you enable HDR in Windows too?
you need to do that for HDR to work correct

The monitor is not HDR, so no. What does that have to do with this?

It's LG 32UD89 btw

Have you tried with FreeSync enabled & also try while disabled..?

There could be an option for FreeSync in the monitor options too.

why you dont have HDR monitor - then why enable 10-bit pixel format?

just re-install 20.12.1 with "Factory Reset" option - and test again

I mentioned that in the original post, becuase with it off, videos in browsers based on chromium (Aka chrome, Vivaldi, edge but not Firefox) black appears as grey instead of black in full screen,  (white tabbing out fixes it again) and turning that setting on fixes it. Turning the setting on dont seem to change the look of much other things.

My monitor is 10 bit but not HDR. (They are different things)

No one have said what that setting does yet, when there is another Display setting that is still 8 bit because that what it allows me to do.

mh,

actually 10bit pf is only needed for HDR (afaik)

but your problem could also be a Chromium problem

please try it with "Opera" too - because its also based on Chrome - yet i dont have that problem there...
if Opera works fine than you need to talk to Chromium Devs and report bug there

10 bit can also just be used in photo editing and stuff but haven't tried that even tho I am in to photography as an hobby because I thought you needed pro GPU for it.

As I said, it happens both in Chrome, Vivaldi and the new Edge browser, but not Firefox.

My daily driver is Vivaldi.

@mihlegaming

all said browsers except Firefox are based on Chrome - and therefore if there is a bug in chrome they all will have that bug

go to amd.com/report and report it to amd driver devs
ALSO go to google and report the bug to Chrome devs

I have already reported it to AMD a week ago, did chromium now.

I know I said I tried to force color profile in browser flags and it didnt help.

I only tried to force sRGB and P3 and it didnt help.

For some reason I tried to force ones i didnt know what was, called "scRGB linear (HDR where available)", and that one seem to have fixed the issue of videos in chromium getting lighter (black becomes grey). So that means I for now can leave the 10 bit pixel format setting off.
