What driver and where did you get it from? The only way I could see an install messing with your desktop and Chrome is if you've downloaded a dodgy one from somewhere (ie: you didn't use an official driver). At which point god knows what's been done to your PC. You could have installed malware. Fixing the problem will depend on just what you've actually installed because the fix could be anywhere from "uninstall the driver you just installed" to "format and reinstall windows".
