I've seen several RX 7900 GRE posts regarding game crashes so I'm sharing how I resolved my own issues. If your games are crashing at seemingly random times, it could be a power supply issue. Before picking up a higher wattage power supply, you might try enabling the "HYPR-RX ECO" feature in the "AMD Software: Adrenaline Edition" application. This will limit the power draw from the graphics card (and save battery if you're on a laptop). You can set this globally or by application/game. On my workstation (Dell Precision 5820 Tower) the highest PSU made for it was 950 watts and since the graphics card can require up to 700 watts of power this can strain the rest of the system. Having the "HYPR-RX ECO" feature enabled has kept my games running smoothly without crashing and I can still run most games at max settings. I initially thought it was an issue with my funky monitor (ASUS ROG STRIX XG49WCR) as it has a ridiculous 32:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 5120x1440 and a refresh rate of 165Hz. Hope this helps!

It is usually best to follow the manufacturer's recommendations regarding power supply requirements. Your 5800X3D has a relatively low power draw, so that should help. You can also restrict your GPU power consumption in Adrenaline if needed. I think that you can make the combination work, but you may not get 100% of the performance out of the GPU. That said, power supplies are relatively cheap, so the main risk that you're taking is having to upgrade your PSU later.
Hello there, this is the first time i use reddit but i was wondering. I found an Asrock Challenger 7900 GRE for 580 euros (which is a decent deal i suppose) and i was thinking of buying it, now the issue is that this specific version of the GPU recommends 750W while i only have a 650w gold (and a 5800X3D CPU). Now in a website that calculates the psu needed for gpu and cpu it said that for my combo 600W should be the minimum, my question is, do you guys think i should be fine with 650W? or should i get 750w psu which i really dont want to. Thanks!
I would say 750 watt is the absolute bare minimum. If you are powering any other peripherals, remember to consider their power draw as well.

Could you clarify what manufacturer the 7900gre is. The HYPER-RX Eco profile reduced the chance of crashing in genshin impact, but there is still a chance. War thunder continues to crash at any settings, only low quality settings help, which allow you to play for 20-30 minutes. Other games work well, although after installing new drivers 24.9.1 rarely, but there is a chance of crashing Heartstone, Deadloock, and there was also 1 crash in Trone and Liberty after playing 15 hours
Mine is manufactured by GIGABYTE. I purchased it at the Micro Center store near me. And yes, I wouldn't say the "HYPR-RX ECO" feature guarantees anything but certainly can help with the large power draw and spikes. An additional setting that might help (if you're pretty much maxing out your PSU already) is the Windows Power Mode being set to "Best Power Efficiency". Now, it's a bit silly to purchase a beastly card and then limit it but this is really just for people who don't have the immediate option to upgrade their hardware. Also, app crashes could be totally unrelated to this and might be a driver instability or version incompatibility. Power is just one consideration I think many people overlook. Did you play Throne and Liberty for 15 hours straight?! That's crazy. If the game was running well for that long and then finally crashed it could be a memory leak within the game itself - slowly using up more and more system memory until no more was available.
