Specs:
7900 XTX
Driver: 24.10.37.10
Fur doesn't seem to render properly for me. Instead of being entirely simulated and "fluffy", it's rendered in rigid chunks.
This doesn't change no matter what settings i use in-game. From lowest to "cinema" makes no difference with hair and fur.
Does anyone have an idea what might cause this and what can possibly fix it?
Have you tried 24.8.1?
I did not. I switched to 24.10.37.10 because it fixed the completely broken Global Illumination (Causing shadows to be opaque black and highlights to be glaringly white).
So even if 24.8.1 would fix the fur / hair issue, i'd trade one problem for another. So i'm hesitant to roll back the driver just to check if i'm completely honest.
Wukong is playing fine for me on my 7900XT/ 7700X system. Might be worth trying?
Define "fine"
It's a known issue that Global Illumination is broken on that driver and has to be turned off (set to low in the in-game options). The upcoming driver (or the non WHQL 24.10.37.10 ) specifically fixes that.
Like i said, i'd be trading one issue for another.
It may fix fur, but it will break lighting.
by "Fine I mean It's actually playing really well with the latest drivers. No rendering or global illumination issues. My settings are set to very high so I can maintain a steady 110 FPS because on cinematic FPS is about 45 FPS. I also tend to run a very stripped down system on my gaming machine, no start-up apps other than what is necessary, any background processes I don't need are turned off and all bloatware possible is removed. If I have some time today I'll capture a few screenshots if you like?
Apologies for the late reply.
That is all well and good, but that wasn't my point at all.
I'm not having performance issues and the most recent driver did exactly what it set out to do, fix global illumination past the "Low" setting.
My one and only problem is that fur / hair isn't rendered properly and that the setting for it doesn't seem to work either.
That's all.
I'm running a rock solid 60FPS with high settings as well. It's just this one, singular effect that's broken.
Nothing more, nothing less.
It sounds like you're dealing with a rendering issue for fur in Black Myth: Wukong. To address this, first ensure your graphics drivers for the 7900 XTX are up to date, as updates often fix such problems. Check the in-game settings for any specific options related to fur or hair rendering, and verify the integrity of your game files if you're on Steam. You might also try switching between DirectX versions and lowering anti-aliasing settings to see if that helps. If the problem persists, checking the game's forums or support channels may provide additional insights from other players facing the same issue.
I’m experiencing a rendering issue with fur in Black Myth: Wukong, and your suggestions are helpful 😊. I’ll start by updating my graphics drivers for the 7900 XTX and checking the in-game settings related to fur rendering. Verifying the game files on Steam and trying different DirectX versions sounds like a good plan too. If the issue continues, I’ll look into the game’s forums for more insights. Thanks for the guidance!
I mentioned my used driver, which was up to date at the time and now has been replaced by 24.9.1, the WQHL certified version, and the fact that in-game options didn't take effect in my original post already.
Game files have been verified several times and never found issues.
Forcing the game to run in dx11 does not fix the issue but causes stuttering on top of that.
Lowering and / or increasing AA-settings has no influence on the issue either.
