Wrong graphics card detected

Well, i've just bought a laptop. It is an ASUS X555QG-XX009 with an AMD A12-9700P CPU in it. The GPU is a Radeon R5 M430. The problems I'm facing is that when I installed Windows 10 it detected it as M330. After going to the site I tried both downloading the automatic detection driver software tool and the specific driver for my video card. Both resulted in listing me another GPU, a Radeon R8 M435DX. The other problem is that in Windows 10 when I enter in Graphics Settings it should show me 2 different video cards. One for power saving and one for performance. Both of them are the integrated R7 there. The video card is working properly and it can be used in games, as I've seen in Task Manager. I hope we can find a solution for this. Thanks!

Here is the general Asus Support download page for your laptop.: https://www.asus.com/Laptops/For-Home/Everyday-use/ASUS-X555/HelpDesk_Download/?model2Name=ASUS-Lapt...

Download and install the Asus CHIPSET Driver package which probably includes the AMD GRAPHICS Driver for your APU and Discrete GPU card.

It should correctly identify both Integrated and discrete Laptop GPUs installed.

AMD generic laptop Mobile AMD Driver most of the time won't show the exact Make & Model of your Discrete GPU but it will be compatible and generally act like a basic VGA driver.

Make sure you use DDU with the internet disconnected and deleting AMD Installation folder at C:\AMD before installing the new AMD Driver.

deleted answer since you mentioned the laptop's Discrete GPU is actually a R5 M450.

AMD Radeon R5 M430

Thanks,

This is the latest AMD APU Driver for both your Integrated and Discrete GPUs: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-21-3-2

Under the latest AMD Driver Release Notes I don't see that it is compatible with the R5 M400 series GPU cards:

It is possible it is an error in the Release Notes.

Okay, inputted the R5 M430 Driver at AMD Download page and it came out to the same AMD Driver as above: https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-r5-series/amd-radeon-r5-400-series/amd-radeon-r5-...

None the less, you need to install the APU Graphics driver which will automatically install both the Integrated and Discrete GPU drivers for your laptop.

NOTE: Make sure Windows 10 is fully updated via Windows Update.

Same result, but now i can see only the R7 in radeon settings.

Did your laptop come with Windows 10 installed or did you upgrade?

I would install the Asus Graphics driver since that would be 100% compatible with your laptop and open a Asus Support Chat or email and see what they recommend.

What does Windows Settings - Graphic show?

NOTE: Like I mentioned, most of the time AMD generic laptop driver will not show the exact Make & Model of the installed laptop Discrete GPU card but it will be compatible as a basic laptop VGA driver.

In the exact same situation my self, My laptop is the same model, same chipset and does what you're describing, i contacted asus on this matter and they no help what so ever, can i ask did you upgrade the bios version on yours ?  i have a feeling that this chipset was dropped when they switched from the amd drivers to the adrenaline, but because there are other A12-9700P chips with different gpu etc that's why it's not installing the correct chipset
