Why AMD GPU is not working on my pc?

Hi

My laptop is about 2-3 years old. It's a good machine, nothing to complain about.

Till last week I had windows 10 installed on it. After installing some updated drivers, the PC could not read the GPU anymore.

I've tried everything I could find online, to the point of staling Mint today, but the problem still persists, my pc won't read my graphics card and only shows Intel HD Graphics instead.

The GPU is an AMD Radeon HD 8500m.

To install any AMD driver your OS must be fully updated. Check Windows Update.

Firstly, there is no such thing as a AMD 8500M graphics card. There is a HD8500M SERIES of cards...which one do you have?

Regardless of which one you have...these series of cards are considered Legacy..meaning no more updates

Before you can install the AMD drivers...you must first update the Intel graphics from Intel. > https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download-center/home.html Run their driver update tool and install all it finds. Reboot and install the correct AMD driver.

You can run GPU-Z and select 'lookup' and it should tell you which graphics card you have. Make sure you have selected the AMD graphics at the bottom of the chart.
