Switchable Graphich issue with black screen and freeze

Hello everyone, I need help, I have an old ASUS X452CP notebook from 2013 with a hybrid grapich card, dGPU = R5 m240 + and IGP = Intel HD 4000.

Nearly 2 years I use my notebook with 2019 amd adernaline drivers which I forgot the version and worked fine, I was encountered problems with my windows, so I reinstalled with a new Windows version and Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.5.1 for drivers.

When I was installing drivers, my computer suddenly freezes at 93%. still no responsive, I was press key and mouse and got nothing, so restarting was the only solution. After restarting when entering the Windows logo, the notebook displays a black screen and no mouse icon and freezes again ... restart again

I tried to enter through safe mode, and disable dGPU and restarted again and Windows boot will work normally if R5 m240 is disabled . So currently I only use my IGP HD4000 for display.pastedImage_2.png

Trying this drivers in: https://www.amd.com/en/support/previous-drivers/graphics/amd-radeon-r5-series/amd-radeon-r5-200-seri...

My efforts:

-Installing netframework and runtime,
-Remove drivers using DDU in safe mode before trying this:
1. Adrenaline 2020 Edition 20.5.1 Optional
2. Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.4.2 WHQL
3. Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.10.2 Optional
All tested in clean install Windows 10 64 bit version 19H2 (Build 18363) and.... still got freeze again after get install or enable dGPU in device manager.

I searched on google and got people in this forum, and they answered the same problem as me with: (see bottom and still fresh reply) https://community.amd.com/thread/203591

Hi there, Good day to you, I have the exact same laptop as you, (just that i dropped it quite a few times and i have 2+8gbs of ddr3 ram) and i have the exact same issue as you. I have spent over 2 years trying to find a fix, and i found one.

1. Run the Amd Cleanup Utility https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601

2. Install the newest Amd drivers for the best peformance, or update with Windows Updates for the best stability

3. While installing the drivers, you will experience a freeze

4. Try to boot into safe mode, ( i restart my laptop 3 times and it brings me to recovery mode and i follow the steps from How do I start Windows 10 in Safe Mode? – Official Avira Support | Knowledgebase & Customer Support ... )

5. You should be able to boot into windows, Now go to device manager and make sure the driver is installed, then run regedit (search for it on search bar)

6. Now follow the steps at https://community.amd.com/thread/176003

7. Once you disabled ULPS, restart your laptop and you should be able to boot back into windows and everything should be working fine.

I recommend you update to the latest version of windows first.

I hope this method works for you

Does it take a very long time to freeze when installing your driver through windows update? Because mine takes a long time. I don't know if it freezes permanently because of the update.
