Ryzen Master application causes BSOD on Windows 7

After upgrading from Ryzen 7 1700X to Ryzen 5 3500X, I updated Ryzen Master to the latest available version (as of 26 Dec 2019), and after rebooting, Windows 7 would BSOD in AMDRyzenMasterDriver.sys. I disabled the driver from safe mode.

Specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3500X, no manual overclocking

RAM: Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 (2x8GB DDR4-3200 CL16, downclocked to 2800Mhz, physical slots 2 and 4)

Mobo: ASUS Prime B350-plus

OS drive: a 240GB SSD, M.2 SATA WDC WDS2 40G1G0B-00RC30

Ryzen Master is not compatible with Windows 7 which is why is causing BSOD on your Computer PC. Only with Windows 10 OS.

No, it definitely worked with Ryzen 1700X on Windows 7 before. After swapping the CPU, an older Ryzen Master version would complain "no compatible CPU".

I don't know what to tell you. But under every Ryzen processor in AMD Download section, Ryzen Master only has Windows 10 x64 version only.

Here is for the Ryzen 1700X for Ryzen Master: https://www.amd.com/en/support/cpu/amd-ryzen-processors/amd-ryzen-7-desktop-processors/amd-ryzen-7-1...

This previous Overclocker Thread is talking about the exact same problem you hare having with BSOD in Windows 7:https://www.overclock.net/forum/13-amd-general/1724204-ryzen-master-win7-compatable.html

Hi, I have a machine with Threadripper 1950X with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and have found that AMD Ryzen Master version v.1.3.0.0623 and v.1.4.0.0728 works on Windows 7. I have not found a newer version yet compatible with W7.

Hope that helps.
Roberto.
