Card: AMD Radeon RX480
System: Desktop
OS: Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.16299 Build 16299)
GPU Driver: 17.30.1091.1011-170922a-318486C
Ever since the latest Windows 10 update, my desktop brightness has been very dim. I've tried manually turning the brightness up on the monitor and in windows settings but it is still very dim. When the computer first starts, the screen is at normal brightness for a moment before it goes to the dim settings, and using full screen programs with their own independant brightness settings still work just fine at proper brightness. It seems to only affect things which rely on the 'desktop' brightness.
Some support topics online claim that it requires an AMD driver update to fix, but my drivers seem to be the most recent build available. I'm not an IT expert and feeling somewhat lost on how to solve this problem. Assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your time.
Nevermind. I realized the control panelhad an update and a new driver- and then I found the Desktop Brightness setting (finally...) in AMD control panel.
Adaptive brightness on/off in advanced power options ?
Bump. I've been having this same problem and the only solution I've found is to uninstall and reinstall the AMD drivers upon startup....Every. Single. Time.
