Radeon HD 5450 Driver Update Leads to Boot Loop

So I am running the Radeon HD 5450 GPU and the current driver version is 8.872.0.0 dated 07/07/2011

Since the driver is too old, I thought of updating the driver version and downloaded the latest Catalyst Suite from AMD. However, every time I try to upgrade the driver, my PC goes into a boot loop and after a few times of boot loop, it gets me to the login screen.

My config:
FX 6100

Corsair 8 GB RAM

Crucial 256 GB SSD (primary)

Any idea why this keeps happening?

You have a choice of these drivers. No more drivers will be available...Legacy graphics card.

ATI Radeon™ HD 5450 Drivers & Support | AMD

** Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 must be fully updated before attempting to install any AMD driver. All 'critical', 'recommended', and 'optional' (no language packs, etc) updates as well as any Service Packs (SP) must be installed before any attempt to install graphics drivers. If you do not get this message .... keep installing until you do:

Thanks for your response. My windows was completely updated before I even updated the driver and still got the boot loop.

Please advise
