R9 390x New drivers - Memory clock stuck at 150Mhz

Jump to solution

In the read files it talks about 380 being fixed or having issues, nothing said about the 390. I'm using 17.1 for a while, the other drivers memory is stuck on 150mhz.

If you have MSI Afterburner uninstall it and see if it works. 17.1.1 did work with Afterburner. To resolve being stuck, try changing the resolution on your desktop to something else, check the memory clock slider to see if it reset, then change your resolution back to normal settings.

Please try updating to Crimson 17.4.2 which is our latest driver.

I've tried each of the latest drivers, they all seem to have the same problem.

Windows 10 Home 64 bit

MSI Z170A Gaming Pro motherboard

MSI R9 390x 8gig

Intel i5 6600k OC 4.2ghz

RAM Corsair Vengeance DDR4 16gig OC 2800hz

Asus 248 144hz monitor DVI cable used, Desktop resolution 1920x1080 @144hz

PSU Corsair HX 750i

Games:Battlefield 1, GTA 5, Hitman 2016.

Problem with drivers from 17.2, 17.3, 17.4.  After a clean uninstall with amd uninstaller, install the new driver, memory clock is stuck on 150 mhz. Driver 17.1 has worked well with MSI Afterburner. If the memory clock is stuck I will change the desktop resolution and the memory slider is reset to 1500 mhz. I can't do that with the other drivers. So they are unusable from the installation.

Wattman and 3rd party oc apps conflict (for many) with newer drivers, so use one or the other.

I have wattman disabled, ab off until i need it (390 on W10(not C.U), 17.3.3).

Or are you saying your problem is specific to monitor refresh rate.

I see 17.4.3 is out, no need for me to update.

I installed 17.4.3 driver, didn't use wattman. I tried to change the clock and memory in Afterburner, the clock wouldn't change. I reset Afterburner restarted my pc and tried wattman, same problem.

Afterburner helps with onscreen display and core power when I need it. Driver 17.1 runs with Afterburner with no problems, not sure why the other drivers don't work.

I decided to uninstall msi afterburner. Installed 17.4.3, then 17.4.4. They both work. The temperature gauge and slider are missing now.
