And it thermal throttles at like 40 degrees aswell.

Do you know what is extra weird though, the clock speed fluctuating varies by what I look at in a game, say i look at a wall then it will throttle, but if i look at an other wall it will stay full speed even at like 88 degrees celcius.

hey, go with the drivers that you said allowed a bigger termal margin. Acer also should have some sort of Fan controll software, try to increase those settings. Since you are on a laptop you will always need the power cable conected  to play games, oterwise power consutpion profile pops up.
