Problems with igdrcl64.dll solved

Down the rabbit hole of computer nonsense. This is one for you IT people... took awhile to figure it out, but I think I finally did.
Win10 machine kept crashing while running After Effects, specifically when doing one particular task involving moving points on a curve around on screen. After Effects uses openGL with AMD graphics cards (which this particular machine has)
Tried the same thing on one of my other machines with NVIDIA cards and everything worked fine.
The event viewer kept showing a problem with: Faulting module name: igdrcl64.dll, version: 20.19.15.4531

This module has something to do with openGL from the info I found searching all around the net. I updated Windows, updated the AMD drivers, all the while checking to see if this DLL had been updated. It had not.

I ran the Intel driver check on my machine, checked the motherboard manufacturer's drivers, checked more forums... hours went by.

The machine this was happening on runs a Intel 4770K which has an onboard graphics chip. The driver wasn't showing up in device manager, so I checked the bios to see if it had been disabled. Found nothing.

Searched more forums.

Got pissed and left the computer for the night.

This morning, got up, searched some more and finally found a forum notice how to enable the onboard graphics for this chip. The reasoning was that Intel had updated drivers for it, so I was thinking that there might be a new version of the DLL in that driver set.

Went into the BIOS, enabled the onboard graphics (it was buried under some crazy options), ran the Intel driver update again and it found the update for the onboard graphics.

What do you know, there was a new version of the DLL.

So far, hours into the day now, no crashes.

Stupid computers.

I'm having a similar issue, can you explain where did you find this option? semillerimages
