Drivers & Software

Need help with drivers. 6900 XT. 22.10.3 causes timeouts

ok folks i have a question about drivers. If you go to AMDs webpage and go to drivers and look up drivers for the 6900XT it brings up x2 drivers. One is 22.10.3 (Date 10.28.22)

the other is 22.5.1 (Date 5.10.22). Thinking man those drivers are old I downloaded the AUTO DETECT software and it recommends the 22.5.1 WHQL. There have been many versions of drivers after the 22.5.1 so why does it recommend drivers so old when there have been many versions in October alone.

even when I open Adrenalin software and click on check for updates it says my drivers are up to date. I am having issues with 22.10.3 where my Drivers will timeout and my screen goes black.

The last WHQL driver is always listed below the current (optional) driver.

There's a link to 'Previous drivers' on the landing page from 'Submit'.

The 'check for updates' is default set to recommended, can be changed to both options.

but is it ok to run the 22.5.1 on the 6900XT since the driver date is so old or should i try to run a newer version. I dont know why but I have had nothing but issues on the 22.10.3 with driver timeouts. Even after a DDU on a fresh windows 11 install since this is a completely new PC.

I have had zero crashes or anything on 22.5.1. Been running great

It won't hurt running the older driver.

I am having similar issues with my 6900xt running newer (22.10.3) drivers.
This causes driver timeouts, especially for VR gaming. Also have issues with Adrenaline settings that makes the gpu hotter then it needs to be under load.

The 22.5.1, current recommended have no issues with anything.
Kicker to this is the new mw2, where it forces you to upgrade to the newest driver or you wont be able to launch it even.

Is there a work around somewhere i can try? a bypass on the forceful driver update?
Or preferably a fix for my VR experience on the newest drivers?
