monitor pixelates after windows upgrade and drivers do not fix issue

I updated the AMD Catalyst control center and drivers, uninstalled AMD Catalyst and drivers, reinstalled both, but my monitor will still pixelate at random times and sometimes text becomes unreadable. I have the AMD Radeon HD 5970 dual monitor card, with only one monitor hooked up. I have also tried switching to the unused connection on the card. Nothing is working.

I have also reverted back to an earlier restore point trying to see if I could work around any upgrade issues. Nothing is resolving this issue.

Looks like I may have resolved this issue. I uninstalled the AMD Catalyst control center and drivers and reinstalled them. I did this several times. Seems to be working OK, now.
